The largest of the Canaries is the beautiful island of Tenerife. Surrounded by stunning turquoise waters and with plenty to see and do on the islands, there is no questioning as to why it is one of the worlds most popular summer destinations, attracting around 10 million visitors a year. Tempting as it sounds, this stunning Spanish island may not be for everyone. Definitely, DON'T go to Tenerife if...

1. Huge volcanos put you on edge...

Tenerife is famous for its dormant volcano, which is a UNESCO national park. Mount Teide looks awe-inspiring from a distance and if you're brave enough, you could even spend your evening staring out at the stars and ty to experiencing some of the islands best views from the rocky hillside!

2. Talking birds freak you out...

3. Hidden bays and beaches aren't your thing...

Not for the faint hearted, after a two hour trek to through a scenic route, but the secluded Masca Valley Bay is well worth it. Explore the beautiful crystal clear water of this untouched paradise, or many of the other secret beaches on the island.
