family sun Spain

Spain is a great place to take families of any age: short flights, airport transfers can be quick and children will be well received everywhere by the locals, most of the time they are the centre of attention! Here are our favourite spots for villa holidays in Spain with children and why...

Puerto Pollensa, Majorca

Puerto Pollensa has very beautiful and safe beaches which are ideal for little ones where the sand gently slopes into the calm sea. There is a great town centre with a pedestrianised square full of restaurants and bars and the Pine Walk promenade is ideal for an evening walk. Take a boat trip around the bay to take in the amazing views or hire a pedalo for some great family entertainment!

Torremolinos, Costa del Sol

The lovely town of Torremolinos on the Costa del Sol offers a 7km coastline seafront promenade with several excellent beaches. It has become a favourite family destination and with nearby attractions such as Crocodile Park, Aqualand and Paloma Park there is plenty for your family to see and do. Not only does this resort have a lot to offer in terms of entertainment, but it is only around ten minutes from the airport!

Santa Eulalia, Ibiza

Ibiza is not all about clubs and partying! The island is home to some of the most stunning beaches and if you and your family like to hop in a car and go exploring then this could be the place for you. Santa Eulalia is a beautiful town and resort on the east coast of the island and is the perfect base - very popular with families seeking a relaxing holiday with long promenades for walks and kiddie safe sandy beaches.

Salou, Costa Dorada

With over three hundred days of sunshine a year and reachable within two hours from the UK Salou is another great choice for a family holiday in Spain. The shallow rocky coves along the beach are perfect for smaller children to play in and build sandcastles. For older children who are looking for adventure, PortAventura theme park is less that ten minutes away by car and adjacent is the Costa Caribe Aquatic Park. It's also not too far away from Barcelona if you fancied a day of sightseeing in the city.

Costa Caleta, Fuerteventura

Costa Caleta has a laid back feel with its fishing cove base but also boasts a great selection of bars and restaurants for evening outings. For children, there is a play area on the beach with weekly activities such as face painting and a bouncy castle during the summer. There’s also mini golf and 10 pin bowling for group family activities and if you fancy something a little different, why not check out Chipmunk Mountain where you can hand feed wild chipmunks!

Catalonia, Barcelona

Barcelona is not just a colourful haven for the most adventurous, but it offers so much for families looking to understand the complex culture of Catalonia. Not only will you and your family fall in love with the colourful surroundings in Park Güel or spend hours marveling at the unique architecture in Barcelona’s Gothic quarter, but you’ll also enjoy the many shops aimed at children as well as outdoor areas perfect for a little Spanish cuisine al fresco.

For family holidays in Spain, we also love Javea, where there are not only fabulous beaches but loads of things for all the family to enjoy, and on the south coast of Spain Nerja which also boasts amazing beaches and plenty of things to keep the family entertained on holiday.
