Apartments in Salou

Situated in the province of Tarragona, the sun-kissed resort town of Salou lies on Spain's northeastern Costa Dorada, 10km from the cultural capital, Reus. Fringed by palm trees that line its glorious Golden Coast, it is home to the largest theme park in Spain, PortAventura World, making this resort especially popular with families looking for a fun and lively destination to relax and soak up the Mediterranean sun. Direct flights from the UK to Reus Airport take just over 2 hours, or alternatively, Barcelona's two larger airports are 90km from Salou and a 1 hour drive away.

Salou has two main beaches; to the west you have Playa Ponent and to the right, Playa Llevant. Both boast an abundance of water sports, while Llevant has a longer stretch of coast at 1,200m long and 70m wide. People-watch, race each other on jet skis or recharge your batteries at one of the local beach bars. For peace and quiet there are plenty of smaller coves to enjoy some undisturbed relaxation. Cap del Salou is a 10-minute drive from its livelier neighbour of the same name, where you can experience a more authentic and untouched side to Spain.

Families with young children are spoiled for choice when it comes to things to do in Salou. From riding the waves at water parks such as Aquopolis, to racing down the tracks at Kart Salou, there is plenty to keep them entertained. There are also 4 golf courses near Salou. For a change of scenery take a day trip and 10-minute drive to Tarragona City, with its ancient Roman amphitheatre, Medieval citadel and 12th century cathedral. In the evening, dine at one of the authentic tapas bars in the historic old town quarter. After sun down, Salou has plenty to offer when it comes to nightlife, from bars and beach clubs along the coast to luxurious nightclubs in the centre of town.
