Apartments in Torrevieja

50km south of Alicante city, Torrevieja was originally a fishing and salt mining village dating back to the 1800s. Nestled between the Mediterranean Sea and two large salt lakes, it is now a modern seaside city, known for its subtropical climate and lively coast and promenade. Torrevieja has a high number of British expats, so there are a lot of home from home amenities such as pubs and international restaurants, yet there are a good number of Spanish locals who flock here in the summer months. Torrevieja is perfect for a family holiday as all five beaches boast excellent facilities and high environmental standards of cleanliness. To the north, discover natural coves and saltwater lakes near Juan Aparicio promenade. Enjoy a cleansing mud bath or just sit back, relax and take in the beauty of the natural landscape. To the north lie two salt lakes in the region of Torrevieja La Mata, with mesmerising pink waters and a scattering of nearby coves.

The surrounding landscape is home to 100 species of birds and wildlife, most commonly flamingoes and rabbits. Find your own slice of paradise on one of the five Blue Flag beaches; La Mata, Los Locos, El Cura, El Acequion and Los Naufragos. Excursions to Alicante or Tabarca Island, near Santa Pola are available, making Torrevieja the perfect base for outdoor adventures. If you're looking to explore the region off-road, there are over 100 cycling routes to discover, taking you along the 20km of coastline and natural parks. Watch the sunset from Las Salinas de Torrevieja Natural Park before returning to your own apartment with sea views.

In the evening, watch the busy promenade come to life, with plenty to keep you and the kids entertained. There's no shortage of bars and restaurants in the area, where you'll find most of them in the El Baluarte area in La Punta. Stroll along the seafront and enjoy the lively cosmopolitan atmosphere, where you'll find plenty of traditional seafood restaurants, as well as fast food outlets. Torrevieja's outdoor night market is one of its main attractions and one of the biggest in Spain. Take home a souvenir from handcrafted jewellery to leather goods and bags and clothing.

Should you fancy a change of scenery, Elche, Murcia and Cartagena are easily accessible via the AP7 motorway.
