Owner Interview: Sharon talks about why she loves Kefalonia
We had a catch-up with Sharon who owns this beautiful villa in Kefalonia, Greece with her husband Mike. She joined Clickstay when it was Villarenters back in February 2007 and has enjoyed only five star reviews ever since.
Hi Sharon, tell us a bit about your property and its location.
Villa Diana is on the beautiful Ionian Island of Kefalonia, Greece. It is a spacious five bedroomed Villa with its own private 10mx5m pool. Set in its own gated grounds close to the villages of Keramies and Spartia, with views to the highest mountain of the Island Mount Aenos and the lush countryside.
Sounds like a dream. What is it about the area that you love?
We wanted to build our villa in an authentic Greek village location because we intend spending time there at all times of the year, not just the summer months. Villa Diana is in a lovely countryside location, but is within easy walking distance of two villages with their shops and tavernas which are open throughout the year.
Who would you recommend your property to?
It's ideal for large groups of people who want to holiday together but also want a degree of privacy. It is set on two levels, each with its own lounge and kitchen areas, two bedrooms at ground level and three bedrooms on first floor - allowing for up to 14 persons. Outside of the peak months of July and August it is also possible for smaller groups of up to 6 persons to rent only one floor of the villa with the unused floor remaining vacant. Due to its large balcony, covered veranda and large patio areas around pool it is also suitable as a wedding venue.
Talk us through your routine for making sure your property is perfect for your guests when they arrive.
Villa Diana has a manager, Joy who is also a close neighbour so she is a fantastic source of information to guests. Joy will arrange for the villa to be prepared for guests from the information they have given us (e.g. provision of cot, contents of Welcome pack, etc.) Joy will meet the guests at the airport so she can help transport luggage, and guests can follow her to the villa in their hire cars. She will then show the renters how to use various facilities such as air-conditioning, WiFi, TV, etc. Then during the holiday, Joy will visit arrange maid services at the convenient time for guests.
Joy sounds really helpful! Finally, give us a recommendation for your favourite restaurant in the area.
Villa Diana is lucky to be within walking distance of one of the most popular Tavernas on the Island which attracts visitors, both Greek and tourists, throughout the year. It is called The Olive Grove (Elionas) and is well worth a visit. However, should you just prefer to relax in the villa then we recommend a chef service called Bond Viveur who has several menus you can choose from. From fine-dining to BBQ, Rory, the chef can serve your food and drinks as you sit on balcony beside pool, then store leftovers in the fridge and wash the dishes. We enjoy this so much we book his services every time we visit our villa!
