The charming beach resort of Tossa De Mar is one of the quieter resorts of the Costa Brava, situated in Girona Province 100km south of the French border and approximately 88km north of Barcelona. More humble in size than its livelier neighbour Lloret de Mar (less than a 20-minute car journey away) it boasts crystal clear waters, beautiful sheltered coves, a wealth of historic remains and 14km of gold sand. Like many of the resorts along the Costa Brava, Tossa de Mar was originally a small, typical Catalonian fishing town, now transformed into a thriving tourist town with a bustling centre, beautiful old quarter, modern promenade and world-class beaches to let your hair down on.

Surrounded by dense forestry, unspoiled Cala Futadera, or 'The Cove of 330 Steps' is the perfect place if you want to enjoy a quiet afternoon. With a mix of rocks and fine sand, this little gem is tucked away between Tossa de Mar and San Feliu, where you'll find there are more fishing boats here than people.

With a coastline surrounded by lush greenery, rugged mountains and fertile valleys, Tossa de Mar's idyllic landscape is ideal for exploring. If you're feeling adventurous, take a guided walk along Cami Ronda coastal path stretching all the way from neighbouring Blanes to Portbou and Verdon Regional Park, or hire a bike and discover the hidden gems of the coast. The town's main beach, Platja Gran, is a horseshoe-shaped stretch of golden sand, scattered with colourful fishing boats.
