Located in the 'warm coast' of the Mar Menor in the Costa Calida, San Javier is a town and district in the Region of Murcia, known for its popular coastal resorts of Santiago de la Ribera and La Manga del Mar Menor. Steeped in history, the Phoenicians left behind remnants that can still be seen today, the most famous being Bajo de la Campana, the remains of a shipwreck, from the days when the harbour was used for trading. Today you can still feel its fishing village charm, although many parts are tourist-built such as Dos Mares Shopping Mall with its upscale boutiques. To get a sense of the natural beauty of the district, take a trip to Mar Menor's saltwater lagoon at sunset, a natural spa with its purifying clay and cleansing waters. For a day at the coast, Punta Brava, at the district's northernmost end, is an excellent spot for families, with its calms waters and picturesque views of the stunning Sierra Mineras landscape.

Get a sense of San Javier's fascinating Phoenician and aviation history at the San Javier Museum, showcasing its iconic antique aircrafts and regular exhibitions, or spend the day unwinding and enjoying the abundance of water sports on the beaches along the coast, nestled between the Menor and the Mediterranean. Kids will love making a splash at Aquapolis Torrevieja, less than 30 minutes away by car.
