We bought our villa about 18years ago and very much enjoy meeting our guests from all around the world. We decided to start renting out our villa for holidays, because we wanted to show what it was like to holiday in the real Madeira - not the busy city. Arco da Calheta has the really typical, rural, Madeiran feel, just right to experience what it would be like to live in Madeira and be a local! We hope we can make your stay with us every bit as enjoyable as it is to live in Madeira.

This is a family owned property for over 100 years, recently inherited from the parents who did the last renovation and now since has been again updated to include A/C and heating as well as internet, cable TV and access to a private parking for renters

I live and work as a photojournalist in Madeira, along with my two brothers we remodelled and expanded the home of my maternal grandparents to be able to accommodate people visiting the island.

Managing partners Elda Garcês and Leonel Dias (married) with two daughters, Beatriz, 20 years old and Maria, 12 years old. We are the two academic training teachers, of the Visual Education subject and of the History subject. We have a winery on the property, where we produce our own wines here, from our vineyards the traditional "dry wine", jaqué and American and sweet old wines. Our Madeira wines like our grandparents produced! A wine tasting can be scheduled at our Adega Garcês! There is a bicycle rental service (adults and children) so that customers can visit the town's interior and surroundings. Easy parking for vehicles, the same is done in the street of the House. There are bus stops and a taxi rank within a 3-minute walk from the house. If you need a car with a driver, or rent a car, the Casa provides contacts and information. In the house there are timetables and routes for buses/public transport. The property is a 3-minute drive and a 12-minute walk from the Caves and Volcanism Center of São Vicente, the pharmacy, supermarket, traditional food court, post office and the sea/beach very suitable for surfing.

I picked and ecorated this apartment for myself and my family for myself however due to us not using it at the moment I am renting it out to people who will enjoy its beauty while in Madeira on holiday.
