Hissar (or Hisarya) is a thermal spa town close to Plovdiv city, Bulgaria, and has been a wellness resort since Roman times.....
The ground floor of the villa is not occupied so those who rent here will have the whole house to themselves.
There is a private courtyard at the front where you can relax.
Within 2 minutes walking you will find a spa centre, supermarket, restaurants, cafes, the Tourist Office & a park with mineral springs.
The double bedroom has a king sized bed. The spacious twin room has 2 single beds. A baby's cot is available if needed. The sofa bed in the living room is large and comfortable. If your party is larger than 5 please enquire.
Less than 5 minutes walk away is a newly opened balneotherapy centre.
5 minutes walk in the other direction brings you to the Roman walls that surround the old centre of the town: Diocletianopolis as it was known in Roman times.
THE TOWN
Hissar, or Hisarya, has 2 dozen thermal springs, with water between 24C – 49C, leafy parks and many spa centres & outdoor swimming pools. It is famous for its mild climate, clean air, and the healing properties of the mineral water. Because of its climate and hot mineral water, it attracts visitors all year round.
The majority of tourists who visit, come here to avail of the wellness & health centres,so the town is perfect for people who want to relax, recharge and commune with nature. At the same time there are lots of activities, both in town and close by.
For history buffs, there are numerous sites of interest - Roman baths, the remains of a small amphitheatre, the barracks of the Roman garrison, a Roman tomb, the foundations of a couple of the oldest churches in Bulgaria, as well as the best preserved Roman fortress walls in Bulgaria.
There are also many wonderful cafes and restaurants, the majority of which have beautiful gardens to enjoy.
Hissar is at the foothills of the Sredna Gora mountains, and there are many opportunities for hiking and mountain biking in the surrounding nature. Bicycles can be rented from some of the nearby hotels..

Starocel Wine & Spa complex is a 20 minute drive away - there is a bus service or taxis can be arranged locally if you wish - there you can find a Thracian tomb complex, and a state of the art Winery, with a tasting room which recreates the interior of the tombs.

40 minutes driving will take you to the town of Plovdiv, which is the cultural capital of Bulgaria. There you will find the cobbled streets of the Old Town, full of architecture from the National Revival Period. There is a regular bus & train service to and from Hissar, with about 10 departures every day.
The 'House of Traditions' in Staro Zhelazere, is a folklore centre that holds regular events & exhibitions, about 10 mins drive and on the same bus route as Starocel
