Owner Interview: Mary tells us about her ski chalet in Bulgaria

Yes, that's right, you can ski in Bulgaria and, believe it or not, it gets a good dumping of snow! It's also one of the cheapest ski destinations, with a pint of local beer costing just 1 euro in many bars! Mary joined Clickstay as an owner in January 2013 and has a luxury ski chalet in Pamporovo ski resort in Bulgaria - which costs from just £261 per week. She tells us a bit about her property and why she loves its location...

Hi Mary, tell us a bit about your property and its location.

Our chalet has two double bedrooms (each with their own balcony!), two bathrooms, a living/dining area, a small fully-equipped kitchen and a downstairs loo. Both bedrooms could be arranged either as a double bedroom or as a twin bedroom and there is definitely adequate sofa space to sleep two more people downstairs. In the lounge there is a warming wood-burning fire but the chalet also has central heating. One of the benefits of staying in a chalet is that parents are able to chill out by the fire with the kids asleep upstairs and in a separate bedroom, but still close enough to hear.

There are plenty of things to keep renters entertained in the evening too, with cable television and DVD player with family selection of DVDs. We also have a Playstation with games and WiFi.

The onsite restaurant and bar is just across the quiet road and we are also close to the sauna area. There is a covered patio sp you can sit and watch the beautiful sunsets.

Larger groups can be accommodated by renting neighbouring chalets as well!

The chalet is part of a secure community called Forest Nook 2. There is a little drive to the hamlet which is a great space for snowball play and ideal for children. A children's play area is actually being built at the moment. In the summer there is space for play on the grassy areas and there is a communal swimming pool.

Wow, sounds like the chalet has it all! What is it about the area that you love?

A week in this resort is like being in a fairy-tale. It is a very popular location with the children who think they have come to Narnia! We love that the skiing and snowboarding is so cheap and there's excellent snow cover.  Ski lift passes are not much more than half the cost of those in Austria!

I guess we love the variety of activities on offer - you can have a winter ski holiday or a walking, mountain biking and canoeing holiday in the summer when weather is usually reliably sunny and 18-22°C.

You could even team a holiday here with a week on the Greek Aegean - we are within 100km of Kavala or the island of Thassos.

The security guy will have the keys and will show you to the chalet and also where to park.

Finally, give us a recommendation for your favourite activity in the area.

It has to be skiing. snowboarding, or dog sledging!
