Eat like a local in Kissimmee, Florida with our handy local restaurant guide.

1. Jimmy Bear's BBQ

Barbecue season is year-round at the legendary Jimmy Bear's BBQ. Based in a mall in the St Cloud neighbourhood, it's a short drive from central Kissimmee but the chargrilled delights that await make it worth the extra milage. This proper barbecue restaurant is big (portion wise) on ribs, pulled port and burnt ends.

2. Woodsby's Countryside Cafe

Woodsby's Countryside Cafe is a simple Kissimmee restaurant with comfort food at the heart of the menu. This rustic style diner on the edge of town is a local favourite for its home-away-from-home American home cooked favourites. Think hash browns, pancakes and pie. Lots and lots of pie...

3. Big John's Rockin' BBQ

Want to try another good barbeque place? Of course, you do. Head down to Broadway, Kissimmee to sample the smoked goods at Big John's Rockin' BBQ. Brisket is top of the menu here, they even do it in an omelette! The service is praised for its speediness, but if you need to kill time between plates then browse the rock n roll posters album covers with a rockin' soundtrack to match.

4. Savion's Place

Downtown Kissimmee is home to Savion's Place. A local bragging point since 2012, Savion's Place incorporates modern American food with island hospitality in a nod to the head chef's Haiti roots. Tuck into coconut shrimp, jambalaya or ribs to name but a few options. Its varied menu makes it a great spot for families but also a holiday date night spot that's bound to impress.

5. Black Angus Steakhouse

Renowned for their melt-in-your-mouth steaks, Black Angus Steakhouse is a popular choice for its prime cuts but why stop there? There are also some rather delicious sounding appetisers for you to enjoy including buffalo hot wings and something about a jumbo shrimp cocktail.
