9 Things You SHOULDN'T Do When Visiting Menorca

With more beaches than Ibiza and Majorca combined and plenty of wonderful old towns, harbours and markets to explore, Menorca really is one of the Balearic's most underrated islands. So they say! Whilst it is only getting more popular summer by summer, with the fantastic Menorca weather, along with its unspoilt beaches and laid-back atmosphere, we can certainly think of a few things you'd rather NOT be doing this summer. Here are 9 things you should definitely avoid when thinking of Menorca holidays...

1. Definitely DON'T go exploring the Old Town of Ciutadella...

...unless you love beautiful gothic and baroque churches, charming narrow streets and wonderful markets.

2. And DON'T dare try the seafood on offer at its famous harbour...

...unless delicious, cultural dishes freshly caught that day are your thing. Which, if they are, is just plain weird.

3. DO NOT visit the cerulean shores of Cala es Talaier, one of the most popular Menorca beaches...

...unless you really love crystal clear water that is ideal for snorkelling! But who would like that?

4. Definitely DON'T bother driving up to Monte Toro, the highest point on the island...

...unless, of course, unparalleled views over the lush mountainside and ocean is something you may be interested in seeing. Doubt it.

5. Most certainly AVOID trying Menorca's popular gin at Xoriguer Distillery...

...unless you enjoy free alcohol that is an absolute pleasure to drink.

6. DO NOT even think about visiting the cliffside bars of Cala en Porter for an evening...

...unless you enjoy brilliant cocktails and food, accompanied by a infectious atmosphere and wonderful views.

6. Don't DARE explore the many night markets on offer on this island...

...unless you're interested in home-made trinkets, garments, delicacies and a bustling market atmosphere. No? Didn't think so.

7. DON'T bother visiting Cala Mitjaneta, a gorgeous deep blue beach that is still a bit of a secret...

...unless, of course, you enjoy spending your days in sunshine at quality beaches surrounded by brilliant natural landscapes. But I doubt it.

8. Definitely DON'T take a relaxing stroll around the whitewashed houses of Es Mercadal, an old market town...

...unless you enjoy post-card perfect moments at every turn and getting a taste of local culture. BORING.

9. DO NOT make the mistake of going a snorkelling trip out into the sea...

...unless, of course, you enjoy diving into brilliantly blue water and discovering wonderful marine life. But that would make you crazy.
