    We had a wonderful stay at the beautiful villa the location was great and the grounds and swimming pools were great and a fantastic temperature the villa was great inside but a few things need updating especially the pillows are very worn out and the only other thing was the front door is very hard to lock and open and definitely need some attention but overall it was a fantastic holiday at a great place I would definitely recommend it

    We had an excellent week at Villa Bonita. Lynda met us when we arrived and was very helpful and friendly. The villa is set in beautiful, large gardens and the highlight was definitely the solar heated pool. The accommodation was spacious, clean and well equipped. The area is lovely and peaceful, though you’d probably benefit from a car if you want to explore. We will definitely be back!

    We were a family group of 10, including 3 children the youngest of whom was 3, and the eldest family member was 86. Overall the villa was very good and we certainly had a lovely holiday there. The area was quiet and the villa had a pleasant outlook over the golf course at the back. It was approximately 30 minutes walk into Villamoura itself. The restaurant almost immediately opposite the villa is excellent. We were impressed with the cleanliness and the number of visits from the housekeeping team to change the linen and towels - 3 times during a 2 week stay. The pool was also kept very clean by frequent visits. The pool and pool area was very good, necessary given the high summer temperatures, plenty of sunbeds, seating and an eating area plus barbecue. The villa itself was spacious, decorated in a traditional manner. The air conditioning throughout was very much appreciated and essential. The upstairs ensuite bedrooms were excellent. The living/dining areas and downstairs bedrooms would possibly benefit from a little improvement. There was a step from the living room to the dining area under the stairs which should be blocked off as this was hazardous. There were a number of things in need of repair and we would be happy to point out these things to the owners in more detail. Overall however we were very happy with our stay.

    There were 4 couples that stayed , firstly the upstairs bedroom is amazing lovely features his/hers sinks ,bath/shower and separate shower cubicle, decor is quite modern with little splashes of Portuguese style the other bedrooms were spacious enough and very comfortable the garden had been worked on and just needs time to knit together but a very pleasant area with lots of birds and backs onto the old course(golf) the pool is a great size and we made lots of use of it + we also had a couple of barbecues and dined al fresco. The living area with English to was quite modern and stylish as well as all the patio areas . Fully equipped up to date kitchen with all electrical devices . There’s a Spar shop a short 10 min walk ,but ideally a car would come in handy although uber is also reliable. On the whole a great holiday in a great villa !

    We had the most wonderful family holiday at Villa Janet. Paulo was a pleasure to deal with at all times. The pool is great and house in general was perfect for our family of 4, with an excellent air conditioning system. Cleaners came midweek and replaced towels and cleaned, took away rubbish etc. Villa Janet is within walking distance of convenience shop and for further distances we used Ubers which are reliable and very reasonable. Would love to go back to Villa Janet!

    We had an amazing holiday in this Villa, perfect for our large family group of 11 people. Swimming pools were great for the children aged 4&5 years and adults too. Beds really comfortable and all facilities we needed. Short 10-15 minute walk to local shop and about 25 mins to Marina. Had food shopping delivered which was great also. Would definitely recommend and will stay again.

For those looking to expand their knowledge about Portugal, the resort has so much to teach you about it’s ways, local marine life and region’s history when Romans occupied the lands; and for the outdoorsy types looking to enjoy the nature in Vilamoura, activities like mountain bike tours, hiking, sailing, parasailing and waterskiing might be right up your alley. Renting a villa in Vilamoura puts you at arm's length to all of these options.

Activities for kids in Vilamoura

Many of the activities listed in ‘things to do in Vilamoura’ are straight out perfect for kids. Apart from the beaches and tons of activities they provide, there is still a lot of fun stuff kids could do here. If your kids are old enough to try it, then Karting Almancil is definitely a must. The track itself could do with a little bit of upkeep, but that’s far from being a dealbreaker. Aquashow Park water park is very popular due to its thrilling rides, excellent facilities and very attentive staff. However, do expect the joint to be crowded during summer as soon as it’s open.

There are two bus companies that completely cover the region, including Vilamoura. The buses are reliable and the best option for tourists is to acquire the Tourist Pass, which eliminates the travel limit for 7 days, is valid in all buses and costs 38.2 Euros. Uber and taxis are also available. You can flag a taxi on the street or use the app, which locates you as soon as you open it. All it’s left for you to do, at that moment, is confirm the taxi.

Where to eat in Vilamoura

If you’ve got a big appetite, maybe posh restaurants boasting Michelin stars and whatnot should not be your first choice - there are several of those in Vilamoura. We don’t mean to discourage, but they can be pricey, and focus on quality rather than quantity. The one that stands out is Emo, offering outstanding service and delicious food. A Gaviota is definitely a cheaper option. It’s a beach bar/restaurant that mostly serves grilled meat and seafood. The prices are reasonable and food amazing. Piri Piri is a cheap little restaurant we cannot recommend highly enough. The interior is rustic and perfect, while the menu is quite extensive.

Nightlife in Vilamoura

Being a purpose-built holiday resort, Vilamoura caters to all holidaymakers. You can expect an eclectic choice of establishments here - from mellow easy going bars to pulsating nightclubs. There is a great choice of bars around the marina. Start your night at O'Neills and head east, if you can find east once you get out. There are several nightclubs in Vilamoura and the one we’d recommend is Disco Dice Club - a very popular club with great music and reasonably priced drinks.

Shopping in Vilamoura

The best shopping in Vilamoura can be done around the marina. You can find all kinds of shops scattered there, from smaller clothes stores to upscale shopping outlets. For larger shopping malls, you’ll have to venture out of Vilamoura. The two closest shopping malls are in Faro and Guia. Both are quite large, though the one in Faro is a bit larger of the two, with lots of stores, shops and even restaurants inside.
