Surrounded by mature gardens and shady trees, Maison Cavare is a beautifully restored farmhouse for up to eight guests, located on the edge of Cavaillon. Traditional stone walls, exposed wooden beams and generous French windows give the house an unmistakably Provençal character, while thoughtful modern comforts make it particularly well suited to relaxed family holidays.
Life centres around the spacious open plan living area, where the kitchen, dining space and comfortable sitting area flow together beneath characterful beams. French windows draw in natural light and open directly onto the terrace and gardens, making leisurely lunches and summer evenings effortless. A separate air conditioned lounge offers another place to unwind, while four comfortable bedrooms are arranged across both floors, each overlooking the garden.
Outside, there is plenty of room to enjoy Provence at its most leisurely. The private swimming pool is surrounded by mature trees and broad lawns. Al-fresco dining tables invite long meals outdoors, while a covered outdoor lounge provides welcome shade during warmer afternoons. Children can make the most of the circular tree swing as adults settle beneath the shady trees with a book or a glass of rosé.
Maison Cavare is conveniently positioned for discovering the Luberon and wider Provence. Historic Cavaillon is just 4km away, with restaurants, bakeries, hypermarkets and weekly markets, while L'Isle sur la Sorgue (13km) is renowned for its canoeing opportunities, antiques and Sunday brocante. Gordes, Ménerbes and ochre coloured Roussillon can be reached within around half an hour by car. The landscapes of Les Alpilles offer further possibilities, with Avignon 35km away for a rewarding day trip.
Whether mornings begin at a Provençal market or beside the pool, Maison Cavare offers families and friends a characterful base for experiencing the landscapes, villages and easy going rhythms of southern France.
Set in a small hamlet on the edge of Cavaillon, Maison Cavare enjoys a fantastic location just off the road leading to the historic town. With the Luberon rising to the east and the Alpilles within easy reach, this is an inviting base for days spent discovering honey-coloured villages, lively Provençal markets and spectacular scenery.
Cavaillon (4km) is close by for restaurants, cafés, bakeries, shops and its weekly markets as well as large hypermarkets. The town is particularly celebrated for its sweet Cavaillon melons – look out for the town’s melon festival in July. Cavaillon has a fascinating heritage stretching back centuries, with reminders of its past woven through the old town.
This location sits at the gateway to the Luberon Regional Natural Park. Across the region, walking trails and scenic roads lead through quintessential Provençal landscapes, while the celebrated villages of Gordes, Ménerbes and ochre-hued Roussillon can all be reached within around half an hour by car.
Another highlight is L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue (13km), an attractive town threaded by branches of the Sorgue and renowned for its antiques shops and Sunday morning brocante. Continue to Fontaine-de-Vaucluse (17km), dramatically positioned beneath limestone cliffs and a superb starting point for hiking in the surrounding countryside. Active days might also include tree-top adventures in nearby Lagnes or canoeing along the clear waters of the Sorgue River.
The location also opens up the landscapes of Les Alpilles, where cypress trees, olive groves and limestone hills frame some of Provence's most picturesque villages. Explore charming Eygalières (16km), with its old stone houses and views towards Les Alpilles, or venture to Les Baux-de-Provence (32km), a magnificent medieval village perched dramatically on a rocky outcrop.
For a change of pace, Avignon (35km) makes a rewarding day trip, with its UNESCO-listed historic centre, imposing Palais des Papes and famous Pont d'Avignon. From Provençal villages and market mornings to hiking and river adventures, this house is beautifully placed for experiencing the many pleasures of this corner of Provence.
