Cottage from 1790 built around the remnants of a medieval house, parts of which still survive. Traditional renovation using clay, straw and wood at the foot of Poland's highest volcano (Ostrzyca 501m)
Kingfisher Cottage (in the village of Proboszczow) is an atmospheric house for rent with a sauna located in the Kaczawskie Mountains in the Land of Extinct Volcanoes (an area unique in Poland). The house offers guests an equipped kitchen with a 6-burner gas stove, electric oven and a comfortable dining room. In the old log-walled room (now dining room) weavers once worked. The house dates back to 1790, sheltered by a 330 year old linden tree. Most of the old medieval woodwork of the house has been preserved. The rooms are coy and each has a bathroom, shower and wash basin.
In the garden you will find a year-round sheltered area, a fireplace and a sauna.
From the garden it takes around one hour to walk to the summit of the nearby extinct volcano, Ostrzyce/Spitzberg (501m). The highest in Poland. As an area of Natura 2000, there are many hiking and cycling trails there. 200 m from the house you will find a stable to go horse-riding (all levels) or order a sleigh ride in the winter snow. We also have alpacas in the village with which you can go for a walk.
There are 4 castles nearby: Grodziec, Lenno, Świny and Bolków. In summer, it is possible to organise a kayaking trip (for all ages) on the Bóbr/beaver River. We also fill the swimming pool in the garden in summer.
The house is surrounded by a small river where you can cool down on hot days. In the garden we have a place to play badminton and the lawn is large enough to play some outdoor sports.
