Cottage overview

Historically an old cow shed, Yr Hen Beudy has been lovingly renovated and restored with many original features retained. Surrounded by fantastic countryside on the doorstep, this beautiful cottage offers great accommodation for a couple who are looking for a relaxing and romantic retreat and is an ideal base for you to explore this wonderful part of Wales.

The level of attention to detail, with wonderful and unusual items made and locally sourced, make this cottage very special and will create and make wonderful memories for you to take away and cherish, Hen Beudy is exceptionally well-presented, tastefully decorated and comfortably furnished with good quality oak furniture, fresh linen and complimenting fabrics. The sitting room is spacious with a wonderful inglenook style fireplace with redbrick detailing and a woodburning stove, perfect for snuggling up on the sofa together to enjoy your favourite film or just enjoy the warming glow of the fire on those chillier evenings. There is a dining area for those romantic candle lit suppers and a well-appointed kitchen which provides everything you need to prepare them. The pretty bedroom has a king-size bed and exposed beams add charm and character, with a stunning en-suite shower room. Here time passes you by at a more leisurely pace, and after a long day walking in the hills or a day on the beach you can return to this peaceful little bit of heaven on earth and simply relax.

An enclosed, private courtyard at the rear is south-facing and enjoys the sun for most of the day, ideal for that morning coffee, relaxing brunch or dining alfresco in the evening. There is also a working farm attached to the property where, during the spring months, you will be able to witness lambing, Hen Beudy provides a perfect base with lots of walks from the cottage, including the Welsh Coastal path on the doorstep, and just a short drive away you can visit Bird's Rock in the beautiful Dysynni Valley or Cader Idris.

There are miles of sweeping sandy beaches at Tywyn and Fairbourne, all just a short drive away, or explore the towns of Dolgellau, Barmouth and Aberdovey, all within easy reach. There are some wonderful bike trails and mountain biking facilities if you fancy something a little more energetic or enjoy the sights from the saddle! With horse riding at the nearby stables in Fairbourne, just 7 miles away, plus you have the stunning Snowdonia National Park to explore. Whatever you decide to do and how you spend your day, one thing is certain you'll love returning to this gorgeous cottage at the end of the day. There is so much to see and do in the area, you'll be planning your return before you've even left
