The most major cultural centres in Tuscany are close. Volterra (25km) is a must-see for every history fan. This Bronze Age hamlet was one of the Etruscan League's "twelve cities" and is now a living museum of history, art, and architecture.

You may fly into Pisa, which is only 44 kilometres away. If you take the train, you'll arrive in Pontedera (25km), a city noted for its wine and chocolate production.
