Additional Facilities
Casa Blay is around a 10-minute drive from the fishing village of Es Cubells. Despite being such a small village, there’s a supermarket for stocking up on groceries and several restaurants for evening meals. Be sure to stroll around the attractive, whitewashed church during daytime visits to the village.
There’s not so much a beach at the foot of the cliffs that Es Cubells sits upon, as a stretch of pebbles and coves. You can head down here to take in some lovely views, but for a day out on the sand, you’ll need to head to Cala d’Hort beach.
Cala d’Hort is around a 5-minute drive from the villa. It offers a sandy beach backed by pine-clad hills and fabulous views across azure waters to the mysterious island of Es Vedra. It’s a small beach, but there’s plenty to do, such as swimming and surfing.
Or you can just relax on the sand as the children play, then enjoy a picnic lunch. This beach is in a prime location for watching some superb sunsets, so don’t miss out if you’re still there when evening falls.
Drive 15 minutes north, and you’ll reach the village of San José. Nestled in the foothills of the highest mountain on the island, it’s a place that still retains much local character and a slow pace of life. In keeping with its traditional feel, a typical Ibizan whitewashed church still serves the community and is a lovely site to take a look around.
However, you will also find a surprising amount of shops and modern facilities. There are several supermarkets, a range of shops selling local ceramics and other items, a pharmacy and plenty of cash machines. Enjoy a delicious lunch or dinner at one of the many restaurants that sit on the main road, or dotted close by on side lanes.
