A perfect fully equipped and well presented Villa, with lovely swimming pool. Extremely quiet location set in an Olive grove. About 5 minutes drive to the small coastal town of Almyrida which has a good selection of tavernas and a nice beach. An ideal base to visit North west Crete and more.

Thank you Richard for your lovely review! We are pleased you enjoyed the secluded (but not remote) aspect of Villa Asteria which is perfect for family holidays of up to eight guests. Another nice thing about Asteria isthat it has the biggest patio area of all our 4 villas because we originally had to move the swimming pool from being built directly over the water mains to Gavalochory, so we gained about another 60 square metres of usable space - we had one group of ballroom dancers gracefully gliding along by the side of the pool! Please come back soon!

Very good Villa, Marcus very helpful and easy to contact. Villa is set in on olive grove and has lemon and lime trees perfect for home made cocktails. It's up in the hills away from all the local noise and traffic, but only a 7 min car drive into the local small beach front town. Loads of bars and restaurants there. Was a good week away and I recommend it to anybody, we were a group of 4 lads aged 26-34 and we got on just fine. Car hire isn't essential but highly recommend so you can explore the island. Auto club car hire we used, they meet you at the airport and drop the car off there when your done so easy and cheap. Taxi into town from the villa is 9euros ish so cheap enough for you all to go down and have some drinks on the beach. Thanks to Marcus and John was a good well deserved week away

We had lovely holidays at Villa Angelos. It is in a ery good situation to visit the north west coast, but also for the south of the island because it is not very far (1 hour drive through the mountains to Sfakia on the south coast). The villa has a very nice terrace to have a drink or to have dinner. Good protection around the swimming pool. Everything was good with the help of John. Many thanks for these nice holidays.

Great place to stay Although the handover time was 5:00 p.m., John informed us at noon that we could already take over the house. The key handover was very easy and perfect. The pool was wonderful. Recommended at any time. 6/22/2022 at 7:24 PM

It was a great week in this villa, the pool is a dream, and the location is great (with a car). The air conditioning did break down during out stay but it was quickly repaired on the same day. We can definitely recommend this house 8/14/2021 at 1:30 PM

Beautiful villa with a fantastic pool We spent our summer vacation 2021 in Villa Helios. Our expectations were exceeded, the villa meets all the criteria described in terms of furnishings and fittings. The pool is a dream, wonderfully large, clean, we spent a lot of time here. But also the distance to the beach is moderate, we preferred Kalyves beach to Almyrida, but that's a matter of taste. Landlord John was extremely friendly and always helpful. We felt completely at ease and were finally able to recover properly after 2 years of Corona! 8/15/2021 at 6:58 PM

OCTOBER SUNSHINE ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This was our fourth stay at Villa Asteria. We usually stay in May/June but this year took a later break. The weather was lovely. Booking (with the owner) has always been quick, efficient and friendly. Mark and his team look after the villa well and answer any queries quickly. There have been improvements to the villa over the years and anything we have mentioned has been put right by the following year. We feel totally relaxed the moment we arrive - lazing round the pool, lunches by the sea in Almyrida and eating in the evenings in Gavalachori. This year we took a trip to the Botanical Gardens of Crete,up in the hills south of Chania which were interesting but possibly not on very hot days! The description of the villa is accurate but words cannot express the feeling of calm and peacefulness that one gets from the surrounding hills and the views of the mountains - and the wonderful sound of the cicadas in the evenings. We love the area and would not think of taking any other villa.

NOT TO BE MISSED Reviewed by: j0hnkiely from Bristol, United Kingdom Reviewed on: 10/15/2015 for their stay in 10/2015 Villa Asteria with private gated pool Was there 1st week Oct really warm still - so the pool was very handy, there are 4 double bedrooms all with their own terrace to sit out on and admire the mountains or the coast. The villa was extremely well equipment with plenty of plates, cups etc (especially wine glasses!). Each room had air con and there were two bathrooms as well as a washing machine which is very handy. The BBQ was bult in and there was lots of chairs and pool side recliners. The local village which is showcase for tour buses is a 10/15 min walk away and is beautiful, with great eating out in the taverns there. Also the lovely beach resort Almirida is only minutes by car, it has some brilliant eating places as well. The food was excellent and great value and the locals are extremely friendly. What more can I say, go and enjoy this villa in the Olive grove (they have 4 villas there) the price and location are superb.

BEST HOLIDAY IN YEARS My husband and I had a fabulous time in this villa, one of only 5 private villas on the Saint Basil Olive Grove near Almyrida in Crete. Location is stunning, with incredible views of the Lefki Ori mountains. Dealing with the owner/manager was a pleasure, (he's based in the UK and responds very quickly) and the local cleaners being especially helpful too. We spent 2 weeks here in October 2015 and hired a car for 1 week and just pottered about ourselves for the second week. There is a fabulous restaurant in the centre of the nearest village Gavalochory (I dont think we paid more than 15 euros a head including wine!) and the beach takes only half a hour to walk (though we preferred to get a taxi back!) Don't miss a visit to Chania old town with the leather markets. And we did visit the water park in Limnoupolos despite not having any children with us!

QUIET VILLA IN LOVELY LOCATION We enjoyed our stay at the villa. It was private and very restful - rarely heard distant voices from the other villas and pool felt very private even allowing for occasional passing traffic. Also spacious, which was important to us as a couple with three teenagers in the party. This allowed us to stay downstairs and get up earlier and leave them undisturbed! Good facilities in the kitchen and comfortable seating area - nice to have proper sofas rather than sofa beds which are often impossible to relax on. Good location for visiting other parts of this area of Crete - lots of interesting places within 30 minutes drive. The restaurants in Gavalochori were great. People were all very welcoming. Our favourite was the Grill House, with Astimari a close second. We did find the walk longer than described, but that reflects our poor level of fitness as desk-bound people 48 weeks a year - the teenagers nipped up and down happily. Fantastic views of the mountains, especially in the mornings. For a 15 year old boy to mention that as one of the highlights, the view must be spectacular! Would recommend this villa to families who are looking for a comfortable home, in a quiet location with good access to beaches and places of interest when you do want to go out.
