A charming property set on a hilltop and surrounded by mature trees and shrubs with a private driveway and extensive grounds, Villa Fengaropetra had everything we needed for a complete recharge. Fully equipped with every appliance, comfortable beds with quality bed linen and more towels than you could use in a month, we lacked nothing except the money to buy the place for ourselves. The pool was enormous, sparkling clean, 27c and acted as a magnet whenever we went out - we just couldn't wait to get back in it. There was a super-abundance of wildlife around the property - tortoises, butterflies, cicadas and what appeared to be vultures riding the thermals above the hilltop. (Not connected to my wife's cooking skills, I assure you...) The peace and quiet, stunning views, clean air and sense of solitude without isolation was amazing. Effi, the owner, was fantastic from the initial enquiry right through to the end of our stay, always helpful and upbeat, only a phone call away if we needed anything (which we didn't) and the source of every conceivable bit of info we could possibly need about local shops and attractions. Would we return? In a heartbeat. Thank you Effi for a legendary holiday!

Wow! That’s the first word that popped into my head when we arrived at Villa Fengaropetra. It sits on top of a hillside (about 30 mins from the airport) and therefore has panoramic views. From the back of the villa you can look out across the valley to the sea or down the gentle slope to the big pool. It’s breathtakingly stunning. At the front, 5 cats greeted us. I urge everyone who stays here to feed them as it is very rewarding. We bought lots of cat food and the odd chicken treat. They are such great characters; our favourite was the one who was blind in one eye who was really sweet, friendly and gentle. I could spend a long time talking about the lovely cats. But let’s move on to the house. There is air con in throughout which was excellent. I slept much better there than back home! The bedrooms are a good size with plenty of space and comfortable beds. The dining and living areas are large with large patio doors providing that wonderful view out to sea. The kitchen is small but well equipped. There are 2 bathrooms which is very handy and always hot water when required. The space outside is fantastic for eating or relaxing - two dining tables and even a bed if you fancy a siesta, complete with mosquito net if you want to sleep under the stars. (Great starry nights). It’s so peaceful and secluded but just a 20/25 minute drive down to Anavyssos. The pool is glorious and large. There’s even a WC and an outdoor shower down there. It was super relaxing in the comfy chairs, sunbathing or swimming down there; and just a short walk back up to the villa via a gentle slope. When not relaxing, we did a lot of sightseeing, either locally or further afield. This included Sounio, Attica Zoo, Epidaurus, Delphi, Mycenae, Piraeus, Lake Vouliagmeni, the Acropolis and much more. Fantastic scenery and beautiful coastline everywhere. Our hosts, Effi and Eugenia, were wonderful – very kind and thoughtful. We had such a brilliant time at Villa Fengaropetra and we can’t thank them enough. We would definitely recommend the villa.

We were picked up at the airport by Effi and Stavros. That way we did not have to search for the house in the dark. That made the start so much easier. They got us some water, bread, coffee and yoghurt to get a nice start the first morning. Also we got the chance to meet the owners, which was very enjoyable. We spent a lovely time at the house. We had a lot of beautiful weather and a real storm (Zorbas). Even during the storm we could enjoy our stay as the house is very comfortable. We made ourselves a fire in the fireplace! During the nice weather we enjoyed the pool every day! What a nice pool and how nice that it was cleaned after the storm and very well maintained by the pool-man. We loved the terrace with its great view, during the day but also during the sunset! No house in Greece we have rented in the past compares to this house.

This was a truly amazing place for a holiday. Perched on a hilltop with a long private drive with great views out to the sea and the beautiful valley, we enjoyed a very pleasant week here. We were welcomed by the lovely Effi with delicious Greek cakes! The pool is stunning. It’s huge! And the poolside cabana is very comfortable; great for lazy afternoons reading as the sun sets. The house is very well-appointed with air con in all main rooms. We were able to sleep 5 with no problems. The kitchen has everything you need and there’s good wifi. Every evening was spent watching first the sun and then the moon set behind Mt Olympus (no not that one.) We visited the Temple of Poseidon which was very interesting but a little windy – hang on to your hats. The nearby town Anavyssos had everything we needed (including a great bakery for more cakes!). We loved staying here and will return as soon as we can!

We had a wonderful welcome from Eugenia and her mother Yolanda who met us at Keretea and guided us the short distance to the villa via an introduction to the local shops. They showed us around the Villa and made sure we were happy. They were so lovely, we were sorry they left! The Villa is set high up so you have a great view of the sea and the passing ships. The Villa gets plenty of sunshine all day but there are a number of cleverly located sets of tables and chairs and sitting areas to enjoy. The grounds are very extensive and there are lovely views whichever way you look. The pool is large and we found it hard to tear ourselves away from it and the shaded seating area by the loungers. All the time you feel "lucky" to be there and that everything is a photo opportunity. The gardens are well attended with a wide variety of flowers and shrubs and the lawn sets the look off very well. I particularly enjoyed the patio seating which was perfect for an early morning cup of coffee and the opportunity to take in the scenery. The house itself has 2 bedrooms; a double and a twin and we used the sofa bed in the main living area. It was never put away and was never in the way either which shows how roomy the layout is. There are several air conditioning units and the villa is never too hot. There is a large dinning table inside that we didn't use but looked great for family meals. We tended to eat at the main table under the bougainvillea, which is the perfect spot for family meals. The kitchen area is a little dark but is very well served with a large fridge, dishwasher and washing machine etc. We found some of the small appliances weren't working (microwave, kettle) but this was easily overcome and there was the bonus of a sandwich maker which was wonderful for our boys who found ham and cheese toasties essential! In general the feeling is that you are in a well loved home. There are all the small things you would have in your own home and the villa is "dressed" very nicely with little touches that set it off at its best. There is wifi at the house which was appreciated and used a lot by our teenage sons in particular. The TV seemed to work for Greek channels only but we only wanted to check on the Olympics, otherwise you wouldn't have turned it on at all. We would recommend this Villa to anyone. We had no problems at all and the owners always got back to us with any questions we had. On one occasion we asked for a pool attendant to come as the high winds we had, had blown a lot of leaf and bark into the pool. Effi came straight back to us and a guy appeared within the hour. Overall, we absolutely loved our stay and would love to visit again one day. One final note, you do need a car. The local amenities are some distance away. Although we did enjoy walking on the local tracks and trails too! A final recommendation might be to leave a visitor book for guests to write their experiences and recommendations in. Thank you Fengaropetra, we had a wonderful holiday! Justin

Effi and Stavros were amazing. Not only did they meet us at the airport where we waited ages to get the car hire sorted but showed us round the house and came back and sorted an issue with the water. Communication beforehand was great too. The house and it's grounds were beautiful. The pool area was fantastic with very comfy sunbeds. Only wished the weather was better for us to go in the massive pool! The house is definitely off the beaten track and car is essential. But it only took 10-15 mins to get to the beach and restaurants. The trip to Acropolis was straight forward and you can't fault the subway system. We had a lovely, relaxing time at this house and would recommend it to anyone. Thank you to Effi for allowing us to stay.

Wunderbarer Urlaub! Himmlisch!

My parents were staying at this lovely villa for two weeks, while j was managing their stay from another country. The level of communication between the owner and I was outstanding, and Effi handled everything (including airport pickup, helping them to rent a car, arranging baskets etc.) upon request. My parents absolutely loved everything about the villa: the view, the location, the utilities. No questions asked, next time, I'll go there myself ;)
