This was our second visit to Villa Romagna and we had a very enjoyable stay. The accomodation is spacious and the view across the valley is captivating. We enjoyed the pool and the table tennis is a special advantage for the property. There was heavy rain the day we arrived and the road up to the villa proved challenging. The owner arranged for the road to be repaired a few days later but initially we had to unload the car and 4 passengers walk up the hill. Once the rain was gone the road held up pretty well and we were able to get up and down with a front wheel drive car. For a 4x4 owner its your chance to be smug and use it for what its intended. We loved seeing the wild boar and enjoyed the steep walk up to the cross at the top of the hill above the house. It is a must do view! Overall we were very happy with our stay, we knew what to expect as we had been ther before and in all honesty we think it a hidden gem. Gubbio itself is a charming but quiet sort of town, but the surrounding countryside is ajoy to explore. We will come back to Villa Romagna I am sure as we have relatives in nearby Umbertide, but look forward to another adventure elsewhere next year. Justin

Had a wonderful week in the beautiful holiday home of Pan Elios in Città della Pieve. Beautiful environment with the picturesque village within walking distance. The owner speaks English and is very helpful and does everything to make the most of your holiday.

The location of the villa is excellent, very quiet with beautiful views. The welcome and care on site was extremely friendly and accommodating. The equipment is very good, even if appliances and furniture are not brand new. Very pleasant the indoor swimming pool. The access road is a simple dirt road, not suitable for low-lying cars.

We were at the end of May in the house and very satisfied: - The location is good, in the area there are many beautiful medieval villages or cities to visit. If, like us, you do not like big swarms of tourists, you are better off in Umbria than in Tuscany. - The house is spacious, the beds are comfortable, the bathrooms are comfortable. It remains cool by its design. - There are several nice seats around the house and in the garden. You will find sun in the garden and by the pool, larger trees always provide beautiful shade. The garden is well maintained and the hillside climatically favorable. - The landlord has everything under control and is always careful that everything is OK. He also has a restaurant nearby where you can eat very well. Since I like to cook and there are excellent supermarkets in Italy, we unfortunately only tried it once. There are fish, but also other food at fair prices.

About Umbria

Villas in Umbria

Arguably, the best of Italy's traditions can be found in the rolling hills of Umbria. Bordered by neither sea nor any other country, this region has kept alive the customary food, wine and lifestyle of Italian culture, yet still remains a better value option than some other areas in Italy.

Known as the green heart of Italy, this sparsely populated region boasts a vast undulating landscape robed in olive groves and dense forests. Woodlands, sunflower and corn fields and vineyards surround the stunning Lake Trasimeno, which also offers nine beaches well-equipped for holiday-makers. For culture, art and architecture Umbria’s towns and cities offer the lot: Perugia, with the River Tiber running through it, and its cobbled alleys and historical mansions, the beautiful medieval hill towns such as Todi and Spoleto, and Assisi’s grandiose Basilica di San Francesco containing frescoes by Giotto. Experience the real Italy from your villa in Umbria.
