The house was nice but quite simple in standard and decoration. The large second floor terrace is fantastic with a stunning view of the ocean. The kitchen was quite simple and some of the kitchen tools were of poor standard. One positive thing was that the agency got us a coffee maker because we had requested that. The pool area was nice but we missed sunbeds and umbrellas. The pool water was not really clear and it could use some more maintenance. The cleaning of the house was poor. It didn't feel like they were cleaning much at all. Toilet and bathroom sink could be dirty even after cleaning. Some times they didn't even change the linen when they came to clean which is really bad when they come only once every third day. We ran out of toilet paper all the time and they never left any spares although we constantly asked for more. When asking for things you got the feeling that you were bothering. There were also some things (like door handles, dead plants on terrace etc) that were broken that gave a poor quality impression. Agency arranged airport transfer and it worked perfect. Area is really nice and I think it's one of the best places we've been to in Thailand (and we've been to a few). Quiet village with all you need but without the worst tourist shops etc. Many really nice and cheap restaurants and the best food quality I've had in Thailand. Never many people on the beach. Southern end of beach is fine for snorkelling but the north is unfortunately a bit polluted by the village. The walk to the beach from the house is about 6-800 m downhill. There's a shortcut behind the house if you don't mind it steep. Our company had 5 kids aged 4-7 and they walked fine both up and down most days but it's quite a hill. Tuktuk from the village is about 100 B. On the shortcut road there's also a nice restaurant really close just 100 m downhill. If we were to go again we would rent scooters the whole time (250 B/day) to be able to driver easier to southern end of beach and elsewhere. Overall we really liked it and the only downside was the cleaning that I really expected more from.

Myself and 8 friends stayed at one of the Lanta ResidenSea Villas over Christmas 2011 and loved every second of it. The Villa is gorgeous and exactly what we wanted – big social areas, a kitchen that you could cook in (though we didn’t – the restaurants in Kaintiang are plentiful, cheap and mostly very good), large bedrooms and a fantastic pool area. It was a struggle to get us to leave the place most days. It should be said that the villas are at the top of a bit of a hill – but the view from the balcony makes it well worth it and it really isn’t that bad! We hired bikes too, which helped us out when we were feeling REALLY lazy. The town itself is lovely, small and quiet but you can party if you like. And the people are all very lovely – Tad who manages the villa will do anything for you (even including booking restaurants for us, recommending things to do and popping by the villa every now and then to check we were all ok!). Also Viki at Scubafish (the local dive shop) is brilliant and will help to book all sorts of things for you including transfers, taxis etc. We also did a dive with Scubafish and loved that too. Anyway, can’t rate the villa, the people or the place highly enough – next time we do a group holiday, we’ll come straight back here!
