About

Loire Valley Gites is the name used to offer our properties - Le Bois - in the fabulous Loire Valley for rental. Having fallen in love with this area some 10 years ago we spent a considerable amount of time finding the right property. Once we had purchased Le Bois we began a complete renovation which was completed in May 2009. The property is our second home and as such is decorated and furnished to an exceptionally high standard.

This is a truly lovely house with secluded private pool. It has been sensitively modernised to a high standard whilst maintaining its rustic feel. The region is lovely although very remote. Expect to drive for at least 45 minutes to any chateaux or decent sized towns/cities. However, with the right weather (which we sadly did not get), it would be easy to spend whole days relaxing in the house, pool and garden. On a small note, the kitchen equipment (especially knives) need a bit of updating. The bread knife was a real struggle! All in all, though, lovely property that I will seriously considering returning to. Would be perfect with a second family of friends in the adjoining house.

We had a wonderful week at Le Bois. The accommodation was spacious and superbly equipped. The owners were staying in the other property and so helpful and knowledgeable about the surrounding area and things to do with two teenagers. Ideal if you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, quiet and tranquil. Well situated if you want to explore the Loire Valley.

Lovely gite very spacious and well equipped set in large garden grounds shared with one other giite but each has its own privacy, Ideal for quiet holiday as set in rural surroundings, we were all cycling so the country lanes with fields of sun flowers suited us, there are some pretty villages within a short drive and the larger towns of Saumur and Chinon are worth a visit. Noyant is the closest village for shopping there is a lovely pattisiere and a friendly cafe/bar. We would definitely return to le Bois.

Our second stay at Le Bois and already talking about a third. Our group consists of mum and dad and two daughters aged 12 and 10, and our pet dog Tilly. Its a beautiful house that suited us all, it has a beautiful garden with beautiful views. The house has everything you need to make your holiday relaxing, the second you arrive you feel just happy to be there and calm. We were lucky with the weather and so were able to use the pool almost everyday, the pool is very well maintained and clean. Everyone you meet connected with the house is beyond helpful, we totally recommend Janices cooked meals too! We had the pleasure of the owners company next door for the week and are desperately trying to persuade them to let us move there ha ha -)

I was very sad to leave Le Bois, a renovated farmhouse in the Loire valley. It was palatial so we could all spread out with luxurious couches, plenty of space in the bedrooms, an excellent kitchen (induction cooktop!) and separate laundry. Everything we could possibly need was here and it was renovated to the highest standard. Additionally the house was set in a generous block so you had complete privacy. Slept like a baby each night. The only downside was it was hard to find in the GPS (difficult to find on a map as the roads are unnamed) but the property managers met us in "town" and guided us to it. A more detailed map with landmarks and an exact lat/long would be helpful. Also it seemed like all the chateaux were a long way away, so lots of driving involved. Be sure to stock up on groceries before you arrive as the local town is pretty dead else you will end up having a "Withnail and I" experience. But Le Bois will remain in my memory forever as one of our most comfortable and enjoyable holiday stays.

This was our first experience of renting a gite, so some of this may be obvious to more seasoned renters. The property was well maintained, well appointed and well decorated. Lovely exposed beams, fire, and comfortable leather settees. The large kitchen had all the necessary appliances and utencils we could have needed. There is one other rental property on the site. Whilst this is next door, none of the windows overlook the other property and the positioning of the outdoor furniture ensures privacy to all. The nearest village is walkable but doesnt contain very much. Everything else is really a drive (cycling could be an option). The gite is set in open countryside and is wonderfully quiet. The only reason I marked down the area was because we travelled with 2 teenage kids and after a week they were starting to get a bit bored (even with the free wi-fi), but I would think for younger children the place would be a great adventure with swings, badminton, pool etc. We relied on the DVD collection available at the gite, which was a bit of a mistake as it was raher limited. I really think the property would benefit from the availability of some bikes. I understand that the owner may have concerns over the cost/maintenance of these but I would have gladly paid a surcharge (and a deposit) to have bikes available.

We loved Le Bois, its a gorgeous home, which has been furnished in a very tasteful and thoughtful way. The kitchen is well equipped with everything you need, sofas are huge luxury leather, beds extremely comfortable, we never ran out of hot water, the gardens are beautiful and the views beyond lovely. The children enjoyed the big trampoline and the pool (bit chilly for wimpy grown ups when we were there), and the dog thought all her Christmases had come at once. Its probably the first holiday weve had where we all wanted to stay! Recommend getting Janice to cater a couple of meals whilst youre there, everything delivered to your door. It is very rural so if you want buzzy restaurants (which we didnt) youll need to get in the car. Cant wait to return.

A beautiful property, which has everything one could possibly expect to find for a most enjoyable stay. A problem with hot water was rectified quickly and efficiently.

Spent just on a week at this lovely Gite. Le Bois has all you need for a very comfortable stay- very spacious will all the conveniences and finished to an excellent standard. Even when the weather made outside activities impossible there was plenty of room inside to spread and relax. Pool, swings and space to run and play make Le Bois ideal for families. We had a great time there and wouldnt hesitate to recommend it. As we were the only ones staying there it was also incredibly quiet. I also found the owner great to deal with when I was booking.
