I had a tough criteria to fulfill for my 2010 holiday as I was taking 3 teenagers away without my husband for the first time. This was my criteria: had to be hot, on the beach, have good public transport nearby as I didnt want to drive, some nightlife for the kids and reasonably priced restaurants for me, a promenade for me to have early morning walks on, mountains views and sunsets. The villa had to be on a secure well maintained complex with 24 hour security for my peace of mind, had to have at least three bedrooms and three bathrooms (no. 23 has 4 bathrooms), have a big shared pool so that the kids could make friends and have air conditioning.
No. 23 fitted the bill, we all had a ball. The kids made friends as did I, the villa was spotless and felt so safe we hardly locked the doors. Callis Beach is beautiful, so so friendly and is probably the safest feeling resort I have been to, shopkeepers even leave their goods out overnight! There is food variety for everyone and half the price of similar on the Costa del Sol. I didnt bother doing a big supermarket shop I just used the local shops for everything, the turkish bread is to die for and only about 30p a loaf.
Outside of Seaside Residence dont expect sophistication but do expect beauty, tranquility and charm and a society that is trying very hard to please us foreigners without totally giving up on their own values.
Lastly, I disagree with the promenade being a 10 minute walk, I would put it at about 4 minutes and if you walk thru the little stretch of restaurants and beachbars leading up to the official prom, only one minute also the dolmus terminal is just outside and the little buses run every few minutes, you can go as far as the bus goes for only 75p! what a great system.
Thank you Ian for your phonecall before my holiday, it was very helpful and if you ever want to sell no. 23 please give me first refusal. We plan to be back next year.
