About

I live very happily with my wife, Nalini, in Santa Maria Del Cerro, near the village of Villanueva De La Concepcion. I was teaching in England, and Nalini was an HMI, when this life journey began for us townies in 1999. We bought land, a green field plot on a hillside, and decided where to site our house on the land, and what it would be like. Later we also bought two rental properties, to realise the dream of working for ourselves in our chosen environment. Without intruding on our guests' privacy, we like to impart our enthusiasm for what we value and appreciate in our life here in rural Andalucia. We try to imbibe the culture of this people, inasmuch as a foreigner can gain an insight. For the most part we like the local people we meet for their warmth, their self-possession, and their unpretentious charm. To relax I explore the villages, towns, cities and countryside of Spain. I enjoy eating out with friends and family. We entertain our children and grandchildren here. The beauty of nature and the climate encourage, and enable us, to spend time working and relaxing outdoors. Life here, which is so different from what we were used to in England, continues to please and satisfy us: we are still “on holiday” every day. Nalini is a practising artist, who is inspired as a result of what she experiences here in Andalucia. When I visit England, I am conscious of missing what I leave behind here, such as the bright light and space – as in wide open spaces, as in enough space to park ten cars; as in having space in the day to talk to my neighbours. Here I relax, and enjoy the simple pleasures of driving into the village, the first view of the Torcal a few minutes into the journey, or going round the Torcal, and later the view of the castle on the approach to Antequera. Here, I, the boy from the East End of London, know that I have come a long way, as I gaze across the swimming pool at distant mountains, but I also enjoy days out with family and friends down on the coast.

This property looked great in the advert but in reality it is absolutely superb. It is stunning inside and out. The villa, gardens and pool area are pristine. The pool kitchen is wonderful and we cooked and ate there most days. We certainly had everything we needed, in terms of facilities, within the property and so much more. Very private with only olive trees for neighbours! The local village is within walking distance but it is up a very steep hill which can be a challenge in the heat. We hired a car and would say it is essential to do so. We went out and about and thoroughly enjoyed many of the local sights. The coastal resorts are only 40 minutes away. We would recommend this property without hesitation to anyone who is looking to get away from it all. A little piece of paradise!!! Alex, Lindsay and Katy Monkton, Scotland

Great property, great location. Ideal for touring inland and close enough to visit the coast. The house is wonderful with everything that is needed for a family holiday, and the owners couldnt be nicer, even though we spoke very little spanish they made us feel very welcome. Only one downside, the local kids make quite a bit of noise with their motorbikes and car music systems.... but not enough that we wouldnt highly recommend this house for a holiday. The photos dont do the property or the pool justice.

Finca was perfect for the 5 of us that went. Its outside spaces were definately the highlight, wonderful terrace with stunning views and the pool area was large, safe and got sunlight all day. When we arrived the villa and grounds were spotlessly clean, full of beautiful flowers and trees and obviously well looked after:the owner visited at least 2 or 3 times a week to maintain the grounds and pool but didnt interfere or bother us. It was also a very secure location and we felt very safe and being just outside the village gave us total privacy. The only slight downside would be the amount of communal space inside the villa, only 4 people can be seated comfortably in the lounge and dining area. However, this made no odds to us as we spent practically no time indoors, and the kitchens, bed and bathrooms were spacious and comfortable. The village is quite remote, takes about 20 mins to get to the motorway down widing roads but again we felt this was an advantage, really felt out in the country! Overall we would have absolutely no qualms in highly recommending Finca to others, we had a fantastic hiloday there and would probably stay there again if we returned to the area. The owner and villarenters representative were also friendly and very helpful.

Casa Sofia was a real country retreat. The views were fantastic and the villa had everything we needed. Unfortunately we did not have very good weather so left the villa in search of sunshine. Very good book selection! It was definately rural so don't expect to walk in to town for an evening meal, town is a 15 minute drive which I had not envisaged. If the weather had been good it would have been perfect!

The property was great, location was great, however although I would recommend the property without hesitation I would not recommend it through this agency. Paying a breakage fee months in advance to the agency, not the owners, is completely unacceptable.

We had a lovely holiday staying in Apartamento Buena Vista. We were at the pool every day, and eating out in the village in the evening. We enjoyed breakfasting al fresco on the balcony, and some of us enjoyed a siesta in a cool darkened room. Our internet addict was well provided for. We liked visiting Antequera, Malaga, and El Chorro lake. The Blake family: Norah, Simon, Matthew, Philippa, Sandra, Eric. 14 July 2012 - 28 July 2012.

We enjoyed our stay at Casa La Era. The house was well prepared. The Spanish owner kept us supplied with new laid eggs and fresh veg. The pool and the views are first class. Barry Cook looked after our needs. We liked strolling into the village in the evening. This house is very conveniently placed for touring around the area.

We have returned to Casa Torrejon for the past three years. The property is always well prepared Barry Cook, the owners agent, gives us excellent service in all respects. The views are fantastic. We enjoy relaxing on the lawn by the pool, and eating barbecued food at the big table under the terrace. This house works really well as an away from it all holiday home, whereas access to the property is good. Brian Atkinson August 2010.
