We are a husband and wife team, from Lincoln in the UK We first came to Sri Lanka in September 2009 and was instantly charmed by the people, their culture and the fantastic natural landscape. It felt like “coming home”. We decided to build a holiday home for us and our extended family, began our search for land in 2010, completed our purchase and met an architect in 2011 and our sketch plan ideas became a reality and the build of The Retreat completed in 2012. We have been in business in the holiday rental sector since November 2013. Formerly, The Retreat at Blue Lagoon, we re branded as The Phoenix Retreat in 2020, after the worldwide pandemic of Covid-19 forced us to close our doors and consider what the future might hold. We were one of the first privately owned villas to obtain accreditation, with merit, from the Sri Lanka Tourist Board, a requirement to reopen, after the pandemic. We have faced many challenges and staff changes, but our reviews speak for themselves.
