Where is Bordeaux airport?

Bordeaux-Mérignac Airport is the international airport of Bordeaux in south-western France. The airport itself is in the commune of Mérignac, just 12km west from the port city of Bordeaux.

Is Bordeaux airport near the coast?

Yes, the French Atlantic coast of Gironde is around an hours' drive from Bordeaux Airport. The coastline begins at the sand dunes of Dune du Pilat and heading northwards to the Pointe de Grave peninsula. If you'd rather keep the beach for day trips, you could always stay near one of the lakes of Gironde commune including Blasimon Lake and Espiet. These freshwater lakes are located to the east of Bordeaux and benefit from the breeze of being near water, without the sandy sandwiches.
