My wife, daughter and I had a wonderful week at Le Domaine de Loustalviel / L'Ostalet. The reception rooms, kitchen and master bedroom / bathroom are spacious, comfortable and well appointed, particularly the kitchen if you like to cook. The rear garden is private and catches the sun for most of the day. The upstairs room is accessed from the living room via a spiral staircase and is most suitable for children. The shared pool is very large and well maintained while the poolside area is spacious and clean with plenty of sun loungers and shaded areas. The setting is lovely with countryside all around and views of the Pyrenees. You will need a car for shopping / restaurants and if you wish to explore the local area, which is full of history with plenty of castles and churches to visit; we especially enjoyed Carcassonne, Mirapoix, Foix and Castelnaudry. We spent our last day in Toulouse, which we thoroughly enjoyed with beautiful architecture and a delicious / good value lunch with wonderful service at Le Restaurant (http://www.lerestauranttoulouse.fr).
Julian and Nigel are great hosts, helpful and attentive. They also sell some lovely local wines, which is a great bonus. We particularly enjoyed Domaine Gayda and subsequently visited the vineyard where we had a very enjoyable tasting.
Overall, Le Domaine de Loustalviel is one of the best places we have stayed.
