Villa Adriana is located in Sa Pobla, just minutes away from the ancient town of Pollensa and all it has to offer, including the nine-hole Pollensa golf course. If you decide to venture no further than Sa Pobla, you won't be disappointed. The town is the perfect place to unwind and relax, and visitors here spend their time strolling through the pretty streets and the ambient old quarter, visiting the traditional Mallorcan shops selling fresh, local produce and crafts, or relaxing in one of the bars, cafes or family-run restaurants that are plentiful in the area.
The town is famous for its potato harvest (in fact, it holds a festival in the humble vegetable's honour every year, ‘Fira Nocturna de la Patata', where revellers can enjoy music and dancing alongside traditional and modern potato dishes. If you want to really immerse yourself in the culture while you're here (and we highly recommend that you do!), an amble around the local parish church and the Can planes Museum of Contemporary Art will give you a fascinating insight into Sa Pobla's history. The museum showcases more than a hundred works by artists from or living in Mallorca, with the collection including many sculptures and temporary exhibits as well as paintings.
Sa Pobla is the perfect base for your Mallorcan holiday thanks to the fact that it is so well served by transport links, meaning you are within easy distance of everything you could possibly want from this stunning Mediterranean isle. Sa Pobla's close proximity to the coast means that the beautiful beaches of Alcudia, Pollensa and Can Picafort are just a short journey away, as is Albufera's famous wildlife nature park.
With Pollensa right on your doorstep, we highly recommend visiting the town during your stay. Quieter than some of Mallorca's tourist spots, you'll find that the beaches are slightly less busy, making it a good choice for those travelling to the region with children. Puerto Pollensa beach is undoubtedly the most popular with families and has great amenities such as umbrella rental, sports facilities and lots of cafes, bars and restaurants.
A popular attraction with visitors to Pollensa is the Calvari Steps, which lead from the Placa Major to the top of the town, where you'll discover the beautiful little Church of Nostra Senyora dels Angels - there are allegedly 365 steps, so be sure to wear suitable footwear! At midday, the light spills through the church's gorgeous stained glass windows, which really is a sight to behold, but whatever time you visit, you'll be rewarded with this stunning building's intricate interior, as well as some incredible views over the town.
