The beach at La Azohia is gently shelving with shallow, warm waters & a beautiful new palm-lined promenade stretching two miles ensuring a memorable evening stroll along the sea front as the sun sets across the bay. Much prized by the Spanish the sea here is considered amongst the clearest in Spain & has been granted blue flag status for many years with the deeper waters at Cabo Tinoso known by divers far & wide for their colourful sea beds & by the local fishermen who still bring in their daily tuna catches to the quaint marina.
The Costa Calida is a fairly undiscovered part of south-east Spain. La Azohia is a totally unspoilt idyllic Spanish fishing village on the Costa Calida. It lies at the sheltered end of the large Mazarron bay, just 10 minutes drive away from Mazarron with its wealth of shops, restaurants, and a wonderful large sandy beach. It is 20 minutes drive away from the large town of Cartagena, where Hannibal landed with his elephants. There are no organised tour operators here, and even in the height of the season you will be able to find virtually empty beaches in La Azohia and around the bay of Mazarron. The beaches in this area of the Costa Calida are fantastic - plenty of large, fine sandy beaches (including a number of blue flag beaches) for the perfect beach holiday.
Rest, relax … there is almost no pace of life here. For the more energetic, there is swimming, windsurfing, diving at all levels .La Azohia is a very well-known place for diving, sailing, boat cruises, golf, biking, river rafting, tennis, trekking.
Puerto de Mazarron
Just a short drive away is Puerto de Mazarron, with many bars, restaurants, super markets, banks, a children’s play ride which looks lovely lit up in the evening.
Further along the main road is also a small fair and local stalls which are opened in the evening.
The port of Mazarron has a Sunday Market, this is lovely, it has so much local flavour just like old Spain.
The Beach at Mazarron is beautiful, very large and flat and sandy with children’s park and swings, also lots of restaurants and bars, and if you like bowls there is a lovely club there which you can go in as guest.
For the golfers there are lots of places to go, there are three new 18 hole clubs between Cartagena and San Javier airport.
There is a 9 hole course at Campersol 20mins away the other side of Mazarron town.
Cartagena is about 20 minutes away and has some lovely shops, but the old town and port are worth the visit and it has very interesting and well conserved archaeological rest from Romans, fenicios and Carthaginians. The food is fantastic, and its people pleasant. Summer here it’s fantastic, but there is no word to describe how marvellous it is to spend you winter time here with no noise and an average temperature of 10-20 ºC
The Costa Calida and local climate around La Azohia puts claim to no less than 300 days of sunshine a year. Check for availability and book your stay on-line. Please note it is a no smoking apartment that pets are not allowed.
Due to economics the minimum booking of the apartment is 1 week , Aug 2 weeks
Payment in euro's or stirling can be made by credit card via our web site :-
There are 4 dive schools in the immediate vicinity and the diving is reputed to be the 5th best in the world
A round of golf can be had within a 30-minute drive.
The Sierra Espuna is a beautiful national park. This is lovely days outing by car taking in stunning views and stopping at a restaurant for lunchtime “Del Dia “
Cartagena is only 20 mins away with history and shopping.

Have now stayed in the area on a number of occasions and absolutely love the location. Beaches are wonderful, with local shops and restaurants. We made a pact that we would never return to a resort because we have so many places we still want to visit, but have been hooked on the area since our first time.
We have also stayed at The Escape previously and it has everything we wanted and more. The living accommodation is modern, comfortable, & has everything required, (including wifi & UK TV for the guests who need to keep in touch! The roof terrace & barbecue were used on a daily basis and the views are spectacular!
On a sad note, the first time we were there we made daily use of the bikes the owner Robert, kindly made available to us, however on this occasion the bikes were rendered almost useless due to obvious abuse by previous occupants. If guests make use of the facilities they must also take responsibility for any damage caused so they dont spoil it for those that follow.
Thank you for your great review, we do try to keep the apartment in top condition, the 2 bikes will be repaired for future use by everyone.

A very enjoyable stay in a well equipped and comfortable property. Although the weather in February was a bit cold at times, the owners had thoughtfully supplied extra blankets and hot water bottles.
The property is in a good location and has great views of the bay of Mazarron.
We are definitely considering returning next year.

This is an excellent apartment, well furnished, lacking for nothing. Supurb position in a unspoilt Spanish village with great beaches just 400 yards away.
The apartment was very homely and the beds were very comfortable. Nothing has been spared by the owner to ensure you have a good relaxing time.
This is one I will be going back to later on....

Thr apartment was tastefully furnished, and was in an excellent position at the front of the complex with beautiful views over bay. Although it had 2 bedrooms I feel it would be cramped with 4 adults, perfect for a couple. The apartment was well equiped but I was disappointed there was no dishwasher, and no air conditioning, but ceiling fans in each room which were just adequate in July temperatures. Having said that I would return as overall it was a lovely apartment andd the village was typically spanish.

It was a wonderful appartment with all we can need. Nothing was missing. Ill recommend it to my friends. La Azohia is a wonderful little town too.
Ive spend a wonderfl holidays
This apartment is great and a lovely place to stay. It is very well equipped and had everything we needed,. The owners obviously take great care and provide several extras. The bottle of wine, water and milk on arrival was a nice touch! The place was spotless too.
The spacious roof terrace is a great place to sit and soak up the sun and admire the views. The area was very quiet and peaceful.
This was a lovely place to stay. It had everything you could ever need! The owners are very considerate of the holiday makers who stay here, beach towels were provided and milk, chilled water and bread available on arrival. Oh and a lovely bottle of wine! It has great views and is nicely snuggled away from the beach and main road. The foldaway bikes were brilliant for a ride along the sea front to the fantastic australian bar. La Azohia is a special place being quiet and traditional, but we loved it because of this. A car is essential but this is a wonderful region to explore. We especially liked the Espuna national park.
We spent an excellent stay. The appartment was very nice, the side is fantastic. We founded all that we were looking for : the sea, the temperature, the tranquillity. The weather was very fine, and we had a wonderful view. Its a little paradise ! We recommend it.
What a beautiful location! La Ahozia is a rare unspoilt gem on the Spanish Costa Colida. From the spacious roof terrace of the apartment there are great views of the turquoise seas (great for snorkelling) with a mountain backdro p in the distance behind. There is plenty of choices for beaches nearby and palm tree promenades to stroll along. It was not at all crowded, even in the first week of August when we went. There are a few nice bars/restaurants in La Ahozia, but if you want more choice you can drive 5/10 minutes into Isla Plena. Another 10 minutes drive will bring you into Puerto Mazarron which is a much busier but pretty resort that I would compare to Guadamar further back up the coast. The Apartment was very comfortable for my family of four and had everything we could have needed. If your bothered about flies and mozzies (like I am) you have nothing to worry about - there are sliding mesh screens on all doors and windows, and the whole area seems to be mozzy free anyway. There are two small shared pools on the complex, which we never found busy - but we would have liked them to have been bigger. It is about a 300 yard walk down to the beach/promenade from the apartment. We found a car useful to explore the local area and beaches and ports/marinas. In conclusion, we had a fabulous holiday in a beautiful location - very relaxing, and I would definately recommend it!
The apartment was exactly as described and totally met our expectations.
The views from both the terrace and the windows in the kitchen and lounge room are lovely.
It is an excellent apartment for a holiday in the area.
The property delivered what it said on the tin - and more. We were very satisifed with the property, which was maintained to a very high standard.
This very well equipped apartment is ideal for a quiet relaxing holiday, even in the middle of July! We were even lucky to have exclusive use of the pool on numerous occasions. The stunning views from the rooftop solarium made it a perfect place to relax day and night. La Azohia is an unspoilt spanish fishing village with lovely beach.
I rented this apartment for my parents, and they are already saving up for the next trip :o) They felt so good and enjoyed everything. They loved the roof terasse and the spectacular view over the sea - they miss it already....
The apartment was perfect, clean, cosy and a real home to home - very well equiped.
We will definately book again, perhaps already this year - so thanks for a perfect and relaxing holiday.
The apartment had everything we needed.
It was clean and cosy and quiet.
La Azohia is a very small fishermens village and in winter time there are not many bars or restaurants open.
When you want to eat out, you have to go to Isla Plana or Puerto Mazzaron.
Apartment could not be faulted .The views were incredible from all areas of the apartment. The owners made the apartment as comfortable as your own home. You would definetly require a car to take full advantage of the area but if you just wanted to relax as we did this was the place to go.

Hello Mr Kind,Just a line to let you know how much we enjoyed our stay at your apartment in La Azohia. Everything was as described and we needed for nothing. This is our third year running , twice a year, at El Pinar de sans Gines and have rented various apartments However, we have found our favourite with yours! The layout with access to the roof terrace from the living room was so much better and we used the lower balcony for all our meals. With all that in mind we would like to return again next year.Mr & Mrs WaslinCo Durham
This property is everything you could possibly want for a relaxing holiday. It is modern, immaculately clean and well kitted out for a self catering holiday. The roof terrace is absolutely beautiful and has sea views - perfect for watching the sun go down. It is sitauted less than 5 minutes walk to the beach and has on site swimming pools - 3 in total I believe. The apartment is within a very close walking distance to local resturants and a short drive away from Mazzaron which is a slightly busier spanish resort. I recommend The Escape for a peaceful get away and complete rejuvenation.
Wonderful apartment, fantastic views, great sunsets, we loved the area, we felt really relaxed in the apartment, which was very comfortable.Weather was great for November, we will certainly return.
Lovely apartment, well equiped and tastfully furnished. We had great week, beautiful views from all aspects of the apartment especialy from the sun terrace. Terrific sunsets.
Very Spanish area, quite and really great for chilled out break.

On our first visit to this area we were amazed by the fantastic location and beautiful apartment. The living area is particularly comfortable and very homely. The kitchen, bedrooms and outside living areas were furnished with the everyday essentials and more. I particularly made use of the plush laidback sofas and fluffy cushions! If the luxury apartment was not enough, the views were fantastic too! From sunrise to sunset the ocean and surrounding villages were on show from the terrace like a postcard sent from paradise. Our first visit left us wanting more, so the second visit is planned for March 2006. Counting down the days!Mr & Mrs BriggsNarboroughLeicestershire
