A lake-front bungalow for those who like a quiet, inspiring, natural environment with a large swimming pond and tall shady trees. Located in the non-touristic countryside, only 15 km off city.
LOCATION: 10 miles (15 km) off city of Chiang Mai, on countryside, in a quiet, secure 7,000 sqm property with natural park-like garden and a few houses.
SIZE OF PRIVATE LIVING AREA: Internal area (bungalow) 345 ft² (32 m²), plus exterior living area (terrace and private garden), about 120 yd² (100 m²).
BUILDING: A lodge with brick walls, built in 2005; with kitchen and bathroom, built in 2011; veranda-like living room, built in 2019. Windows with shutters, open for air circulation or closed with acrylic glass; floors are made of tiles, stones or concrete. All windows and doors are protected by mosquito screens. Attached roof next to the terrace. The attic (between the ceilings and the roof) keeps the bedroom on the ground floor in tolerable temperatures during the hot season.
ROOMS: The Lychee Lodge consists of 1 bedroom (with cooling fan), 1 veranda-like living room combined with a kitchen (with double hotplate, microwave, refrigerator, sink, and ceiling fan), and 1 bathroom with hot shower, wash basin and Western-type toilet. The living room provides views over the pond and garden.
FURNITURE: The main furniture is two single beds with mattresses (3.5 × 6.5 ft = 108 × 200 cm), tables and easy chairs, a desk (large laptop-friendly workspace), wardrobe, and kitchen shelves, tables and chairs.
PRIVATE GARDEN: The small private garden is on the south and west side of the bungalow. There is a terrace overlooking the large natural swimming pond and direct access to the pond via concrete steps of the pier.
COMMUNITY GARDEN: The large community garden can be used for relaxation and is accessible via walkways and a driveway. It includes the large natural swimming pond, several smaller ponds and ditches and a gazebo. Tall trees and bamboo provide many shady areas. You can also find wild edible herbaceous plants and fruit trees in the garden. Delicious fresh bamboo shoots can be harvested several months a year. The large pond is 300 ft (90 m) long and 23 ft (7 m) deep and can be used for swimming (not bathing), boating, and occasional fishing.
PARKING: Car parking lots and roofed motorbike and bicycle parking lots are available. A roofed car parking lot can be booked on pre-order.
HOUSE INFRASTRUCTURE: Electricity (220 V). Gas tank (33 lb = 15 kg), for outdoor gas stove. Tap water (drinkable) with storage tank (528 gal US = 440 gal UK = 2,000 l) and inversion pump. Internet (Wi-Fi, download ≤54 Mbit/s, upload ≤40 Mbit/s, unlimited).
TRANSPORTATION: Public transportation is accessible from the street adjacent to the property of Baan Sammi; the fare to Chiang Mai is 60 Baht. An app-based car-sharing service to and from Baan Sammi is offered by Grab; the booking is easy and the prices are lower than taxi fees. Private transportation with a rented car, motorbike, scooter or bicycle can be arranged; details on companies that rent vehicles can be provided.
