Villa Aurora Review
This villa looked so perfect on paper and we were so incredibly excited to finally have our first family holiday. Sadly this villa didn't live up to expectations. The advert stating that many things were new or modern must have been written a long time ago. The sofas are definitely not new, neither was the pool refurbishment, and the dishwasher is the complete opposite to modern and silent!
I'll start with the positives… The location was great for Disney, and the space in the villa was perfect for a family. Lovely shutters in the bedrooms… unfortunately these aren't getting dusted.
Sadly the villa has clearly not been given a decent clean in a very long time. Visibly dirty carpets, skirting boards, bath mats and rugs, absolutely filthy. Spill/dirt marks on the bathroom walls and wardrobe doors, black bathroom cabinet next to the bath, rubbish not cleaned up from previous guests. Dirty pool tiles and ant nests in the planter by the pool.
The washing machine was completely unusable, I only realised after going to rewear clothing that we'd washed (absolutely disgusting no matter what settings we tried), everything came out covered in brown dirt and not even slightly clean. We gave up and had to hand wash everything, not fun with a whole family! I also really hope that the villa washing machine isn't being used for the bedding and towels because there's no way any of it would be clean!
There were numerous other issues (which the management company have been made aware of), including a broken socket in the hallway (dangerous for young fingers!), mouldy kitchen bins, rodent droppings in the garage, the garbage disposal doesn't work and when the dishwasher is on the kitchen absolutely stinks, the drainage is very slow in the whole property and one of the sinks in the master suite didn't drain.
The bedding needs replacing as much of it was completely bobbly.
The pool had a rather large hole in it when we arrived and the pool company turned up without calling us first and completely drained the pool, while we were out, to fix it, leaving us without a pool for two days. We understand this wasn't the fault of the management/cleaners/owners but something they need to sort with the pool company. The replacement mosaic covering the hole isn't a smooth job either so we had a toe catch on it when we finally got back in.
Next time we will look elsewhere, and I will do more research when selecting a villa (additionally away from a main road as the motorbike noise on Funie Steed Road woke us almost every night.)
I really hope that this villa gets some much needed attention ASAP so that future guests aren't also left disappointed. It seems a lot of effort has gone into making this a lovely family villa, but the upkeep just hasn't continued.
