This is a lovely house in an atmospheric village. Its easy to get to the coast and into Granada, so makes an ideal location for a family holiday where you might want a bit of city, a bit of beach, but mainly peace and quiet! I have to say, we were fortunate that the other house which shares the pool, which is not mentioned in the description, was empty for the whole week, so we had the pool to ourselves (otherwise I would have been claiming some refund!). The owners were on hand to welcome us and quick to respond to a query we had during our stay. The house is clean and cosy, and has everything you need for cooking, including the outside BBQ. I would definitely stay here again but only if I could be sure the other house was going to be empty equally I would only recommend it to a larger group who might book both houses together.

La Vista - Village House in the Lecrin Valley

The area as a whole, the village and the location of the villa within it are all very good. Its within a very short drive of Granada and theres a handy supermarket about halfway where you can stock up on anything you cant get in the village shop. The village shop has possibly the best butcher Ive ever been to.

The villa itself was fine but I echo a few of the other reviewers when I say that this place DOES NOT HAVE A PRIVATE POOL. We have a small baby, I wanted a quiet private pool that we could take her in. As it was there was a family with three teenagers and another with two all wanting to use the tiny pool. They were all lovely people to be around but we spent the week politely exiting the pool when we thought they might want to use it to splash about as teenagers quite rightly enjoy doing and they did the same when they thought we might like to take the baby in.

Therere three types of pool ownership, Public, Shared and Private. This is the middle one and should be described as such.

The other part of our holiday that tainted an otherwise lovely trip was the lady that met us when we arrived. Because we hadnt explicitly told her that we wanted to use both bedrooms the second wasnt made up. When we mentioned that we did want to use the second one she got very defensive and short as if wed done something wrong. We ended up making up the beds ourselves. Quite an unfriendly welcome on the whole.

We spent 8 days at La Vista as part of a two center holiday in Andalusia. Despite the fact we arrived at nearly midnight and in the middle of the Olympics closing ceremony Deborah and Colin couldnt have been more welcoming, something they carried on throughout our stay.
The photos on the web site do not do the villa justice, as a family of four we found it spacious and very comfortable.
The villa is well maintained and contains everything you need, even if you want to cook at home, but why would you with so many places to visit.
Granada is a very easy 25 minute drive away, and is a fantastic place to visit. We went three times, once for the Alhambra, and another twice in the evening for a meal and walk around.
If you want to visit the coast this is only a 20 minute drive, where you can find excellent seafood and meat restaurants.
Deborah and Colin will give you all the local travel advice you need, without being intrusive.
As the Villa is in a small village you get the luxury of fresh bread, fruit and other produce being sold from small vans that tour the area.
We would not hesitate to recommend La Vista to anybody visiting the area

This was one of the few occasions when booking a holiday that it turns out to be exactly as described or even better.
The villa itself was in excellent condition and every room really does have a fantastic view over the bay of La Herradura.
The garden and terrace area of the property were lovely and the extensive shaded terrace on the middle floor was great for eating and the top balcony was lovely at night.
The villa pool is more for cooling down and for children to play in but the shared pool is big and very pleasant and was never busy even though we were there in the school holidays.
We were amazed to see the deer/goat (we still arent quite sure what they were!) on the hillside next to the villa on several occasions just like in the photos on the website.
La Herradura is pleasant enough and has a huge beach but we really like Nerja which is a very atmospheric town with huge choice of bars, restaurants and artesan ice creams. We also liked Almunecar a lot with nice beach restaurants, a castle and authentic old town and fantastic Churrerias.
We would also recommend that you explore the tiny roads up into the mountains that dominate the coastline here. We especially liked the little zoo we found one day that was literally on the top of a mountain (Pena Escrita). Frigiliana and Competa are well worth a visit as well - traditional whitewashed towns.
Having a car is essential as there is nothing in realistic walking distance in the daytime heat and there isnt a great walking route down to Herradura but it is a short taxi ride away and is more than compensated for by the commanding position of the villa overlooking the bay.
A final word about the neighbours who were also looking after the property on behalf of the owner. They were really helpful and very friendly. The only thing that the villa lacked was access to the washing machine which was in the private basement area but the neighbours put the washing in for us to overcome that (lasting a fortnight without a washing machine for a family of 5 is a bit unrealistic and is the one thing we suggest the owner should address!)
All in all thoroughly recommended.

Modern Villa in Secure Community with Pool and Gardens

Casa Monserrat/Clara Del Luna was a wonderful place to stay, it certainly met our expectations, Exceptionally clean - both the property and the pool with equipment and furniture of high quality and everything you could need.Our hosts were there, if needed, for information for places to visit, never intrusive, considerate, friendly and helpful. Claro Del Luna is a compact ideal place to stay for a couple wanting to get away from it all (car essential), but having the beneift of being so close to Granada, Sierra Navada and the beautiful vistas of ~Spain. We also had the benefit of having time in the larger,Casa Montserrat which has wonderful views(binoclars provided for bird watching)which was ideal for a family. We would certainly recommend this property to like minded friends who like to enjoy the country they visit, walking,sight seeing, reading, lazing by the pool.

Property very clean and well presented in a great location with wonderful views.

We were very disappointed to find that the private pool was in fact shared.  It is lovely to share holidays with other people - which is what we normally do - but this was supposed to be a complete break from others.

We found the property to be exactly as described, tastefully finished, very clean and well looked after, with everything required for a very comfortable holiday. We were made to feel very welcome by the owner who was kind and friendly. We had the best of both worlds the peace and tranquility of a quiet rural village with fantastic surrounding views, and for days lazing around the great pool, with only a 40 min drive to great beaches. It was a perfect family holiday and we are so looking forward to returning as soon as we can. I would highly recommend this property if like us you want to see real Spain. Excellent.

We had a great time - was very relaxing and in a stunning peaceful location.  Very easy to get to Granada and the coast and had nice walks directly from the villa.

The description of "private Pool", did make it sound like it was solely for the accomodation, not shared with another villa.
