Generally a very good stay, with the apartment clean, tidy and very much as described. An excellent level of Kitchen appliances. We very much enjoyed the peace and tranquility of the place.

There are a couple of items worth noting. You will have to have some French to speak to the caretaker as noted in previous reviews. There were no mugs at the property when we arrived and so for English guests this presents a problem with tea drinking. 

The parasols were all inoperative around the pool. As we were the only ones there, there was shade but.....I can only guess we were at the end of the season. 

I am being a little picky I know but the above takes off a couple of points and made our stay a very good one rather than an excellent one.

A truly stunning vista and location make this the ideal place for a larger group taking all 3 apartments. We only had a short stay but it was ideal for what we were looking for. 
Bedrooms and bathrooms are beautifully appointed and the dining and lounge areas well kitted out.
Just a couple of points to note, the 10am check out time is really a little early and is not conducive to any kind of a relaxing finish to the holiday. Having the cleaning staff waiting in the parking area for us to vacate was a little off putting. Secondly the pool wasnt really in a great state of cleanliness - granted it was slightly later in the year out of season (late september) but the weather was still good enough to use it.

This is a fantatsic property and was perfect for our requirements. The restoration work is fantastic and the bathroom and bedrooms are superb! Combined with some beautiful local countryside and the views to the lake, it is an amazing place.

However there is some info for you to be aware of should you be considering this property
1) The housekeepers speaks no english whatsoever - not a major problem as you have little interaction with them unless something goes wrong but you will need more than basic french to understand most things - perhaps a health warning on the website might be useful.
2) The water in the chateau is not for drinking - fine for washing etc. again some pre-warning would have been useful rather than having to go back to the shops
3)St Andre, the local town is busy in July and August but don't expect too much to be happening any other time of year!  Think we saw a total of 10 people across the week!

These things are minor irritations rather than major issues and didnt spoil what was a wonderful stay.

The Gite was well maintained, except that the Satelite had no reception for TV. But we adored the views from our windows, simply awesome!!

However it'll be helpful if there's a detailed driving instruction from the SPAR supermarket (or town centre) up to the property itself. It made things very difficult if you can't speak French and won't be able to seek directions from locals. Also, if you're driving there in the night time, you won't be able to see a thing! So specified road directions to the Gite would've been very very helpful to us.

Very nice property. Only thing that did not work was the pool Jacuzzi but I was OK with that and told the owner as such. Somewhat puzzled by the property agent who visited during my stay to make sure that I did not have more people on the property than the 6 allowed. Also indicated that if she had known that I was of Maltese nationality, I would not have been able to rent or I would be given "a different contract". The reason given was that Maltese people tend to invite family and frioends over to stay. I found those comments somewhat dissapointing. This is the only reason I am hesitant to recommend to others. For renters who are not Maltese and /or do not mind surprise visits this is good value for money.

Superb property , plenty of open space and seculded , really enjoyed the location and a great base to explore a lovely region . The chateau is a magnificant building on top of the hill,overlooking the town .

Beatiful chateau, excellent if you are looking for a quite holiday, but still enoy some luxur and comfort. The nearby village San Andre is nice, and the holiday town Castellane is great to go and have diner or so.

OK I knew before we came round the hill where to find the castle in the distance. I pointed it out to the children. It was a beautiful sight, majestic and splendid in the far sunlight and a memory that I will never forget. It has a fantastic location and the children were fair squealing with delight.
