I wanted to leave a comprehensive review as it would have helped me to decide which villa to choose, so here goes…
There were 12 of us, all family, staying for 2 weeks in August 2019. Upon arrival Joyce the representative met us and showed us around. She explained that the Jacuzzi bath in the main bedroom was not working and that there were some tiles missing in the pool. Although a bit disappointed, the Jacuzzi bath didn’t worry us, but the missing tiles made the pool a bit of a hazard and looked untidy. We were extra careful when getting in and out the pool with no incidents. The Jacuzzi round the side by the bar area totally made up for the one in the bathroom anyway and could seat all of us!
Bedrooms – 2 good sized main bedrooms within the house, one with walk in wardrobe. 6 ‘outside’ bedrooms were ‘hotel’ sized with ensuite. Mattresses – difficult question as people have their own preferences. They all looked reasonably new. Aircon can be noisy but then I’ve never had an aircon unit that didn’t make a noise! The bedding consisted of a fitted sheet and 1 pillow. On top was a single duvet cover. On the double beds were 2 single duvet covers. I feel that in a villa such as this, some nice bedding would have been expected. We asked for more pillows but there wasn’t any available. There was no spare sheets available either.
Bar Area: Amazing!!! This was fantastic. The BBQ could have been bigger but you can manage as there is an oven, microwave and cooker there as well as a fridge freezer and sink. Lovely furniture and massive table to sit around.
Kitchen: Lots of utensils, crockery, etc, only thing we had to buy was a can opener which we happily left for others. Plenty of fridges too.
Pool/outside area: Lovely big pool. I wanted to mention that there is no shallow end, so if you have young children or non swimmers, be careful. There is no slight incline, it is just very deep once you climb down the steps. Luckily for us the last renters left inflatables which was nice. Sunbeds needed replacing but were ok if you laid on a towel. Outdoor furniture was old white plastic and dated. Would have been so much nicer to have new modern stuff.
Games Room: Accessed near where the cars are parked, down very steep steps. A bit like a basement. Our teenagers only used this once. It would have been better to have the room as storage and put the games stuff by the bar area. We were looking forward to family games nights but this wasn’t possible due to the location and steps.
Electric: At the end of the 2 weeks, we paid 400 Euros. We only had aircon on in the bedrooms at night. To be honest we closed the main curtains to keep the sun out during the day which helped keep the villa cool. We did have a couple of power cuts but we put that down to using too many appliances at once. We told Joyce who conveyed this to the owner.
Area/Other: Javea is a lovely area, plenty of shops, bars and restaurants. All within around a 5 min drive. You could walk it but we didn’t as there are no pavements and the main road gets very busy. Taxis are reasonable and easy to find. It would have been nice to have had some information in the villa like taxi numbers, bars to go, etc so I mentioned this to Joyce before we left.
The villa seemed like it was unloved and could have done with some TLC. It would have made a big difference to have had nice outdoor furniture, sunbeds and lovely bedding. We left a note with Joyce to tell the owner.
All in all, although some of the negative points I’ve raised were very small, nothing stopped us from having an amazing holiday in this lovely place.
