Chateau overview - owner's description

Dating back to the 11th century, the Chateau de la Chance is a magical holiday chateau in an equally magical setting. The chateau enjoys 5000m2 of private grounds, has stunning gardens and a large swimming pool. The main chateau can sleep up to 15 guests and up to 25 extra guests can be accommodated in the surrounding gites owned by the estate, making the maximum capacity 40 guests.
A significant night in the Chateau's history was in 1576 when the owner, Jacques du Bellay had the honour of hosting the King of Navarre, later to become Henri IV or "le bon roi Henri", under the roof of the castle.
Since the eleventh century Chateau de la Chance has stood on the banks of the river Layon, a tributary of the Loire River - a cultural and horticultural rich region of the North West fondly known as the ‘Garden of France'.
Having been meticulously restored in the mid 1980's it offers modern comforts while still retaining its original grandeur. The Chateau's impressive character is preserved in its thick stone walls, high ceilings and seventeenth and eighteenth century antique furniture throughout.

It is through castles such as this that the history and culture of the region live on and Chateau de la Chance offer a unique opportunity to experience a slice of French life.
There is a wonderful feeling of space at the Chateau de la Chance, and the owners have ensured in every way that your holiday experience will be unforgettable.
Please note that the chateau is exclusively yours for the rental period.
