Furnished with country antiques and delightful, hard to find items from the collection of ThinkBig! creator Bob Malkin, this vacation rental home has two bedrooms, two full spacious baths plus a den complete with a Yamaha electric keyboard. The den can become the third bedroom, with its two convertible twin beds. Extra guests sleep comfortably in the living room, with waterfall view, on a full size sofa bed fitted with a specially designed mattress pad.

A fully equipped cooks kitchen offers opportunities to prepare romantic meals or cook with friends. For the ultimate in luxury, let us arrange for private catering from one of the areas many fine chefs. Dinner is Served at our country farm table where seating for six is no problem. Or simply stroll across the street to the lovely Fernwood Restaurant, a neighborhood treasure.
Mountains, Waterfalls & Stream at our Vacation Rental

Awake refreshed and have your coffee or tea on our enchanting wrap around porch right over the river where you will be soothed by the sounds of falling waters. Some say these are healing waters. Feast on the majestic mountain and waterfall views, the inspiration for the famed Hudson River School of Painters.

You may choose to explore the many nearby hiking trails. Wildlife is abundant in our area, so bring your camera. You may also bring your well behaved dog. We are a pet friendly vacation rental and we even provide a comfy dog bed for your best friend. We also provide bicycles and helmets for neighborhood touring.

Here in Palenville, the lovely, historic Fernwood Restaurant is literally just a 2 minute stroll from The Waterfall House.

Woodstock, a 12 mile drive, is a haven for shops, galleries and restaurants. Stroll along Tinker Street and explore all that Woodstock has to offer. In summer, browse the outdoor flea market held weekends and Wednesdays. Enjoy a concert at the historic Maverick or live theater at the Woodstock Playhouse. The Woodstock Film Festival, held each autumn (Oct. 10 - 14), is a movie lovers delight.

Summer is the time for H.I.T.S., a major equestrian center located in Saugerties, just minutes from our Waterfall Home. The Village of Saugerties (8 miles) provides easy access to the Hudson River for boating and sailing. The village itself is home to numerous pubs, restaurants and a variety of shops, including several antique stores where you'll hunt for potential treasures. Saugerties hosts many festivals and events such as the Garlic Festival and the Jazz Festival. A colorful Farmers Market is open on Saturdays in season.

Hunter Mountain (10 miles), provides a wide range of winter and summer activities. Hunter is the first of the three major ski resorts, which also include Windham and Belleayre (ours is a year-round vacation rental). The Catskill Mountain Foundation offers classes in the arts and many craft and culinary events. Nature lovers will appreciate the access to hiking and fishing.

The quaint Village of Catskill (10 miles) is an up and coming arts and antiquing community with several excellent restaurants. Meander a bit further and you'll find Hudson, a town brimming with antique stores of every description as well as a variety of restaurants and cafes. The Hudson Opera House is a historic venue for events of interest.

THE BEAR CAFE — Dinner only. You must have reservations! Ask to sit by the stream. Check out THE BEARSVILLE THEATER next door for musical events.

CATSKILL MOUNTAIN PIZZA — L,D, Beer and Wine. Terrific pizza, but I'm hooked on their portobella sandwich and Greek salad. Outdoor tables.

CUCINA — Dinner, Brunch on Weekends. Full bar. Chef Gianni Scappin of Woodstock's newest restaurant, Cucina, prepares delicious Northern Italian specialties. Chef Scappin teaches at the CIA in Hyde Park and served as food consultant for Stanley Tucci's "The Big Night."

THE FEZ — Moroccan food, tasty and well priced. On PARTITION STREET. Lunch weekends only. BYOB, but Partition Street Wine and Liquors is just down the street. Suzanne and her husband really know their wines!

GARDEN CAFE — L, D. Vegan gourmet, unfailingly delicious and imaginative food. Try the garden bowl. Changes every day. Beer &Wine

THE HAVANA GRILL — Dinner only, Wed.- Sat. A winning combination of Italian/Cuban fusion, the varied menu sometimes includes a paella for two. Full bar and an excellent selection of wines.

JOSHUA'S CAFE — B, L, D. Great soups (try the Apple/Squash), sandwiches and salads. Popular lunch spot. The lounge, upstairs, offers great coffee as well as cocktails.

LOVE BITES - B,L — An intimate, friendly cafe with wonderful soups, entrees, etc. Supurb presentations. Outstanding coffee.

LUCKY CHOCOLATES — Partition Street. Amazing chocolates, all organic.

MAIN STREET BAR AND GRILL — L,D Full Bar - Surprisingly good Mexican food, sophisticated and nice presentation.

NEW WORLD HOME COOKING — Lunch weekends only, Dinner every night. Not in the Village of Saugerties. At the Hess Station go straight toward Woodstock. You'll see it on the LEFT. Huge menu, full bar, and an enormous collection of paintings by local primitive artist and musician Justin Love. Festive and Fun!

ORIOLE 9 — B, L Mediterranean influence. Great coffee and a good choice for breakfast.

THE RED ONION — Dinner only. Technically in Saugerties, but you'll pass it on the way to Woodstock. Terrific food, extensive wine list. Have a lychee martini!

SMOKE HOUSE OF THE CATSKILLS — A carnivore's paradise! The very finest in meats, poultry, sausages, etc. Open only from Thursday - Sunday. 724 Route 212. (845) 246-8767

THE TANGO CAFE — Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner with an Argentinian flavor. In the center of Saugerties, at the corner of PARTITION & MAIN.

To get to SAUGERTIES from the Waterfall House:

Go back toward the Thruway.
When you get to the light at the Hess Station, turn LEFT.
You will pass a PRICE CHOPPER Supermarket. Keep going, and bear to the right at the next traffic light.
At the next traffic light, turn LEFT. You will be on MAIN STREET. This will take you to the center of town.

PARTITION STREET intersects MAIN STREET. You will find lots of Antique Stores and several cafes.
