Beautiful gardens and leisurely walks, Regency history, quaint cottages, clean beaches and friendly shops…. Sidmouth has it all!!
This lovely seaside town nestles beneath majestic red cliffs and the green hills of the glorious Sid Valley.
Sidmouth has everything you could possible needs - a picturesque beach, a lovely mile long esplanade, great shops, fine restaurants, fantastic walks and much more!
The beach is an ideal place in which to relax on a deckchair. The more energetic can always climb the 500 feet high Peak Hill to enjoy the magnificent panorama Sidmouth and the coast far below. In the other direction is the equally commanding Salcombe Hill whilst inland are the green hills of the pretty Sid Valley. Alternatively there is always a gentler stroll around town, through the park and gardens and along the seafront. This is linked by a walkway to the western beach at Jacob’s Ladder.
Sidmouth’s park, The Byes, is a delightful riverside walk and quiet sanctuary. There are popular guided walks from the Heritage Centre taking in the main landmarks of the town. A ford still takes traffic across the River Sid.
As well as The Byes, there are many interesting walks and drives around Sidmouth. The nearby villages of Beer and Branscombe are both worth visiting en route to Seaton, the next sizeable resort.
Families with children will enjoy the location. If you can get them off the beach, the kids will love a visit to Crealey Park, one of Devons largest theme parks or the more relaxed Bicton Gardens with its park and train ride. "Pecorama" at Beer is also a lovely date out.

This was our second visit to Heydons House and again it made for an excellent holiday. We had one issue with a tap in the main bathroom and contacted Scott, who resolved the problem that same day. Our only down side was the double bed in the main bedroom which was very uncomfortable. We resolved this by using the 2 single beds in the same room and pushed these together.
The property was well equipped, in comfortable, cultivated condition. Location 2 min to the beach is lovely. Not to forget, that we got an excellent and prompt support by the owner for any question. Thank a lot for hospitality.
It was realy very nice to life for 2 weeks in this lovely cottage. It is nearby the international school, which my family and I have visited. So we could go for lunch at home with our children. Very fine. I enjoyed the stay in the small cottage, the small rooms, for everybody an own sleeping room. And two bathrooms! It ist so nice, I would life their forever! Marika It was better than our expectations!!!
Lovely cottage in a great location. Warm and cosy downstairs with the aga and light and bright upstairs. It was freezing outside while we were there, but fine in the cottage. Two minutes from the shops and Kennaway House where our friends were holding an art exhibition, but in a very peaceful lane. Great for the kids scooters! Lots of lovely walks and places to eat in Sidmouth.
Very quaint cottage, clean and airy . Much larger inside than it looks from the outside , think Tardis . Love the Arga , very warm and cosy . Beds very comfortable . Ideal for all the family . Setting could not be better , just a few mins walk to town and beach and the cottge suituated in a quiet lane.
