This particularly well located cottage to rent in Sidmouth is just a 2 minute walk from the town centre with the beach beyond.
Garden cottage offers comfortable and verstaile accommodation - ideal for couples or families of up to 6 people. It offers the best of both worlds. The energetic will love the pretty and romantic walks that Sidmouth and East Devon provide. Those just wanting to relax, unwide and take in the sea air can do so without the need of a car. By contrast if you want to get out and about, Sidmouth is very well located for everything Devon has to offer.
Set over 3 floors the cottage has plenty of living space and privacy. Wi-Fi is provided throughout.
In the lower floor it has a cosy living room with sofa and 2 armchairs. Freeview TV is provided.
Beyond the living room is the spacious dining room with table and chairs. This in turn leads to the kitchen. The well equipped kitchen has everything required for a self catering holiday including, oven, hob, microwave, sandwich maker.
The back door leads to a unique private courtyard. The cottage is quite unique within this location. Most other cottages only have front courtyard gardens - open to all - but Garden Cottage has a lovely, sunny and private back courtyard. Enjoy sitting in the sun with a book or a morning paper!
Also on the lower floor there is a large downstairs modern bathroom with bath and overhead shower.
Moving upstairs the 1st floor houses the master bedroom and bedroom 2.
Bedroom 2 has a single sofa bed with a further mattress that can be pulled out to make two single beds.
The master bedroom is particularly comfortable with double bed and wardrobe.
Moving up to the top floor there is a highly versatile and particularly spacious family bedroom. Here we have a double bed and a small living area with sofa / sofa bed and TV.
Here, privacy is afforded to a 2nd family or just to those teenagers who like their own space!
Lastly, on the top floor is a bathroom with WC and sink.

Beautiful gardens and leisurely walks, Regency history, quaint cottages, clean beaches and friendly shops…. it’s all here in this lovely seaside town that nestles beneath majestic red cliffs and the green hills of the glorious Sid Valley.
Sidmouth has everything you could possible needs - a picturesque beach, a lovely mile long esplanade, great shops, fine restaurants, fantastic walks and much more!
The beach is an ideal place in which to relax on a deckchair. The more energetic can always climb the 500 feet high Peak Hill to enjoy the magnificent panorama Sidmouth and the coast far below. In the other direction is the equally commanding Salcombe Hill whilst inland are the green hills of the pretty Sid Valley. Alternatively there is always a gentler stroll around town, through the park and gardens and along the seafront. This is linked by a walkway to the western beach at Jacob’s Ladder.
Sidmouth’s park, The Byes, is a delightful riverside walk and quiet sanctuary. There are popular guided walks from the Heritage Centre taking in the main landmarks of the town. A ford still takes traffic across the River Sid.
As well as The Byes, there are many interesting walks and drives around Sidmouth. The nearby villages of Beer and Branscombe are both worth visiting en route to Seaton, the next sizeable resort.

Nice place to stay for a family with two teenagers. Near to the shops, Restaurant, beach.
Placed in a lovely alley the property is protected very effective from traffic noise. A quite and comfortable place. You will see at once that the owner had spend pretty much time to restore the the character of the old house and managed at the same time, to install the modern way of living. Furniture and wallpapers were tastefully and coloured with caution. A nice place to live in. The communication with the representative of the owner worked well, we had to ask for some help to start the central heating system and he acted very prompt. So we really love this place and Sidmouth!
Great that its so close to the town and beach. Beautifully presented. Owner available to call if any problems, but we didnt have any. Would visit again.
This cottage is tucked away in a delightful group of houses on a pedestrian path, which is itself located off a side street at the top of the High Street.
The location is brilliant we had a large buggy yet could work to the town-centre in seconds and to the sea-front in minutes. The cottage is also handily located for walks along the river Sid to Sidford (all off-road with pedestrian paths, I recommend turning right at Sidford and heading to the Blue Ball Inn for lunch!).
Tesco, Co-op, take aways (I recommend the fish curry at the Cinnamon Tree but would avoid the Chinese), independent wine shops and bakeries are all a short ramble from the front door. There is also a nice pub on the corner of Salcombe Road (I watched an England game there and they supplied sausage rolls and crisps) and opposite is the local cinema.
Sidmouth is great for kids. The beaches have a combination of pebbles, sand and rockpools and everywhere is accessible by wheelchair or pushchair. We had several cream teas and the wife was especially taken with the size of the cake portions in the Clock Tower Tea Rooms in Connaught Gardens.
The cottage itself has a large combined lounge and dinner with a well-stocked kitchen in an extended portion. Upstairs there are two bedrooms: the second bedroom has a single bed with a further pull-out single mattress. You can normally tell the quality of a house by the shower and this one was hot with plenty of power. TVs with freeview and DVD players are provided in both the lounge and the master bedroom.
One point to note is the parking is on the first available side-road up from the property the idea is to dump the car and use your legs within the town for the holiday. This was fine for us as Sidmouth had all we needed.
The owner was extremely responsive and pleasant when we had difficulties getting on the internet.
In summary I would say the cottage is ideal for either young families or couples (old or young!) looking for a relaxing (and possibly romantic) break.
