Apartment overview - owner's description

Poppies at Westcliffe House is under new management and new to Holiday Lettings. This stunning property is a luxury 4 star rated two bedroom apartment sleeping up to 4 people. It is though an ideal property for a couple wishing to enjoy quiet retreat on the edge of the village.

The picturesque Village of Rothbury has excellent shops, restaurants and amenities and is located on the edge of the Northumberland National Park, providing an ideal base to explore rural Northumberland.

The property has a spacious open plan living/dining area with French doors leading to a small patio. The Kitchen has granite worktops and tiled floor. There is a large double bedroom with window to the rear and a smaller bedroom to the front with bunk beds (the top bunk is open to the side) . Bathroom with over-bath shower, toilet and tiled floor.
This property is ideally suited to between 2-4 people and we are happy to accept ONE well behaved and housetrained SMALL dog (pet fee payable with booking).

A range of amenities including local shops, post office, cafés, country pubs and restaurants are all within easy reach in Rothbury. There are numerous local tourist attractions, riverside walks and scenic countryside within the immediate vicinity.

The stunning coastline of Northumberland is just a short distance away. Poppies is the ideal base to explore all that Northumberland has to offer, from it's famous castles and award-winning beaches to walks, cycling, golf, water sports and fishing or one of the county's many attractions.

If you fancy exploring the area then we would recommend having a car. However the area is well served by public transport with bus services available to the towns of Alnwick and Morpeth, along with connections to Alnmouth Station. Here you can get an East Coast train to Edinburgh, Newcastle or indeed London.
There is also the Coquetvale Circular bus which allows access to the villages of Alnham, Elsdon and the National Trust property at Wallington.

Please Note: the NEW Rental Systems nightly pricing & tariff calculates nightly rates by taking the weekly tariff rate and dividing it by 7. This nightly rate is misrepresented, as it does not take into account Short Break Percentages explained in the Tariff Notes section below. Sadly we have no control over this new trend towards nightly 'hotel-style' pricing so please get in touch and we will be happy to help you further.

3 nights is normally charged at 65% of the weekly rate
4 nights is normally charged at 75% of the weekly rate
5 nights is normally charged at 85% of the weekly rate.

Very pleasant. Only criticisms are
1 Virtually no soap in the bathroom.
2 The lounge area was cool compared to the rest of the apartment.
3. Not easy to keep the shower water confined to the bath.

Thanks for staying at Poppies and I’m really happy to hear you found the apartment so clean and comfortable. Poppies enjoys access to the same 2.5 acres of grounds as all the other apartments at Westcliffe House. The DVD’s can be played on the tv which has a built in DVD player, perhaps we need to make this a little more obvious, many thanks for highlighting it.

This was a beautiful apartment in a beautiful setting. A mile or so from rothbury and straight out into the countryside from the front door. Lovely!

Couple from Lancashire, United Kingdom Aug 2018

We enjoyed our stay and Rothbury and surrounding area is very nice. Poppies is in a good location and is clean and tidy. However the outside of the property and the gardens are scruffy and in need of some proper maintenance work. Some of the equipment, pots and furniture etc could do with upgrading. Compared to some places we have stayed it is overpriced but all in all we had a good stay and enjoyed our holiday.

Family from Leeds, United Kingdom Apr 2017

The cottage is set in a beautiful location with easy access to local facilities and attractions. The bunk beds did not have a safety rail on top and the ladder presented as home made and not integral to the bunk beds. As such it is not suitable for younger children and we felt uneasy with our 11 year old on the top bunk. All 3 lights in the hall were not working. The bedroom drawers were not clean and some kitchen items were visibly dirty. The freezer had food remnants. The cottage was otherwise adequate but appeared a little past its best with mould on the outer walls. The website definitely presented the cottage and grounds as nicer than they were in reality.

Lovely area, outlook from Westcliffe House is amazing, as are the facilities in Rothbury., which is in walking distance. Facilities at Poppies are good. Andrew was very helpful and quickly responded to any questions we had. We would highly recommend Poppies.
