Apartment overview - owner's description

H’yem is approached from the Market Place through a private pedestrian lane that leads on to the banks of the River Coquet. On entering to the property you will find a central hallway leading to all the accommodation, which is on one level making it ideal for those with limited mobility or struggle with stairs. H’yem has full gas central heating and is fully equipped to an extremely high standard throughout.
The Entrance Hall has access to all of the rooms which include: A comfortable and spacious Dining Lounge with a feature log burning stove for the cooler months complete with exposed stonework (initial supply of logs included during Autumn/Winter). There is plenty of comfortable seating for four people with a stylish three seater settee and a two seater settee, wooden laminate flooring and window to the front of the property. There is a 32" LCD television and free Wi-fi internet access for your entertainment. The dining area in the corner of the Lounge has a dining table and four chairs.

The attractive modern Kitchen is extremely well equipped and fitted with a range of brand new wall and base units with wooden work surfaces. It has modern integrated appliances including an electric oven with gas hob and extractor hood, a microwave, fridge freezer, and integrated dishwasher and washing machine. A large window provides plenty of light and a door leads to the outside space/garden area with seating.

The Master Bedroom has a lovely double bed with matching bed side tables, a double wardrobe and large chest of drawers. There is plenty of storage space here for everything that you would like to bring with you for your holiday. The Second Bedroom has twin beds, a chest of drawers and hanging space for clothes. All beds will be made up prior to your arrival and a full set of towels is provided per person staying.

The newly fitted modern Bathroom has a panelled bath with electric shower over, wash hand basin, low level WC, tiled walls and flooring, vanity mirror. There is plenty of free on street parking available within close proximity of H’yem. As mentioned H’yem is suitable for guests with mobility problems, however there is one small step into the property and there is a short walk (approx. 20m) from the parking spaces to the property. One well behaved dog is welcome subject to agreement with our simple house rules.

Extremely well-located property. Right in the heart of Rothbury, with its great range of independent shops and places to eat/drink, but in a very quiet location. Had no problems with the on-street parking. Had a lovely restful break in a beautiful part of England.

On entry we found the property to be warm & clean.Had no real issues,andrew came & sorted a couple of problems,(minor ones.).We would of liked a kingsize bed,but the one we used was very comfortable.

We’ve stayed here a few times now. It’s centrally placed for the co-op, pubs (including a micro-pub), and plenty of walks straight from the cottage. Cragside, Wallington and Brinkburn Priory are close by, and well worth a visit, whilst Alnwick and then the coast are just a little further away but easily accessible.
The cottage itself has a good WiFi signal, it’s warm and cosy, with a lovely wood burner stove (coal and logs can be bought in Rothbury), and is always exceptionally clean. It’s COVID-19 responsibilities are clearly taken seriously, there are hand sanitisers at the front and back doors, and it has its own QR code for daily logging in. Excellent communication from Northumberland Holidays, from booking the cottage to leaving it.

Our second visit to Hyem - absolutely fabulous again. Love the modern comfort & cosy atmosphere of the cottage. Very clean & much appreciated the efforts to put out hand sanitisers. Of course the surroundings are what you truly go to Rothbury for: last time we did a lot on the coast (Holy Island & Bamburgh etc) and walked in the hills (Simonside & Cheviots). This time apart from usual wanders alongside the river flowing through the town; we went to the very close by & wonderful National Trust Cragside and Wallington; we also ventured further afield to enjoy cycling on the perfect reservoir side trails in the Kielder Forest (38 miles) and see Hadrians Wall at Housesteads (35 miles) - worth popping in to the National Landscape museum nearby too. Food/pub wise: the new Italian in Rothbury was excellent (good Covid rule following) and we couldn't resist going back to the terrific Old Boathouse restaurant on the docks/harbour at Amble. And having a beer on the Rothbury High Street in the Narrow Nick pub. Planning our next visit! Thanks.
