House overview

Located in the quaint village of Rosedale, you’ll find Rosella Cottage. With bundles of character and charm, this 19th century home is a perfect couples retreat.

An ideal match for nature-lovers, keen walkers or those simply wanting a relaxed getaway – Rosella is sure to bring you tranquillity. Plus, the cottage is dog friendly too!

The Space:

Dating back to 1850, this one-bedroom cottage is picture perfect. In the living room, you’ll find beautiful original features and gorgeous little touches. Yorkshire themed cushions sit on the comfy sofa and armchair. Rows of books line the shelves in the alcove. Stunning artwork by local artists decorate the walls.

Following on from the living area is the kitchen. The cosy space has everything you could need for your stay, including a dishwasher, oven, fridge, kettle, microwave and toaster. There is even a coffee machine so you can enjoy a fresh coffee each morning!

Take the stairs to the first floor and here you’ll discover the bedroom and en-suite. With a sloping ceiling showcasing original beams and views of Hamer Moor across Rosedale Abbey, the bedroom is special. The comfy, king size bed and flat screen TV give a boutique hotel feel. There is also ample wardrobe space and a dressing table area.

The en-suite bathroom is modern and stylish. It features a large walk in shower and a bright, contemporary feel.

Outside, there is a compact seating area where you can enjoy peaceful mornings and relaxed evenings.

The Neighborhood:

Rosella Cottage is nestled in the heart of the North York Moors in the peaceful valley of Rosedale. The area was part of 19th industrial Yorkshire, with its ironstone mines, kilns and moorland railway. Today the pretty Rosedale Abbey village is ideal for those looking to take time out and enjoy rural life. Rosella Cottage is within walking distance of three great pubs and two cafes.

You can enjoy long walks exploring the moors and valleys. Discover Blakey Ridge to the Northwest and follow the River Seven as it flows to the River Rye near Malton. Rosedale is also famous for its glass so be sure to check out the glass blowing workshop which was established here several years ago.

Just 15 minutes away by car, you’ll find the small market town of Kirkbymoorside. While you’re here, explore the amazing art galleries which burst with unique artwork. Kirkbymoorside’s market square boasts award-winning, independent shops, and a 760-year-old weekly market where you can find heaps of local produce.

Getting Around:

Rosedale Cottage is within walking distance of all that Rosedale has to offer and within 30 minutes’ drive time of Pickering, Hutton Le Hole, Kirkbymoorside, Helmsley and Malton.

Pickering train station is roughly 20 minutes away by car so you can explore villages in the North Yorkshire Moors like Grosmont and Goathland easily. Whitby train station can be reached within 35 minutes by car and has routes to Lealholm, Danby, Kildale and Middlesbrough.

There are two bus stops in Rosedale Abbey and the 173 bus route travels through to Pickering.

Other Things to Note:

As typical in old properties, the stairs are steep so please take care.
