Visit Northumberland and discover the best Northumberland has to offer. Whatever your interest Northumberland can accommodate; this historic county has amazing castles such as Bamburgh, Walkworth, Alnwick and Dunstanburgh to name a few; country houses such as Cragside, Wallington and Belsay offer fantastic insight into the great industrial revolutionists of the area , such as Lord Armstrong.
Rothbury is situated adjacent to Cragside House which was the home of Lord Armstrong and was the first house in the world to be lit by hydroelectricity. Currently owned by the National Trust there is plenty to do for everyone. With one of the largest rock gardens in Europe Cragside House has an iron bridge, formal gardens, lakeside walks, adventure play area and labyrinth especially for the children.
Other National Trust properties in the area include Wallington, Dunstanburgh Castle, the Farne Islands and Lindisfarne Castle on Holy Island.
A short journey from Rothbury you can find Alnwick Gardens and Alnwick Castle. The Castle is still the home of the Duke of Northumberland and has been used as a film location for films such as Harry Potter, Blackadder and Elizabeth.
The Northumberland coastline offers some fantastic sandy beaches such as Embleton and Alnmouth to either spend the day or simply have a leisurely walk along. Bamburgh Castle located near Seahouses offers a great insight into the turbulent history of Northumbria from medieval times to more recent history with Lord Armstrong's family.
Rothbury is situated on the outskirts of the Northumberland National Park and offers an excellent base in which to explore the beauty of the park. The National Park offers something for everyone whatever your interest. Walkers love this area because of the spectacular trails throughout the area.
Kielder Water is less than 30 miles away and has a range of activities including; walking trails, mountain biking trails, fishing, horse riding, water activities, wildlife and adventure activities. Whatever your preference Kielder is an ideal location for a daily excursion.

Coquet View is a spacious, well appointed apartment, with beautiful views of the Coquet valley. Overall a very pleasant stay however two aspects could be addressed. The major one is that the double bed has a wooden slat support base and this doesn't give the support of a spring base and is noisy with any movement. Secondly and very minor, the main bathroom lacked a towel rail or hook.
We enjoyed the stay in this well appointed apartment in a very pretty part of Northumberland.

This was our 3rd stay at Westcliffe house but the 1st stay at Coquet View, and as in previous times the property was exceptional with everything we needed for a perfect stay and the view from this property was beautiful, with plenty of lovely walks starting from the front door, Thank you Andrew, we hope to be back soon

This is the third time that I have stayed at Westcliffe House in three different apartments. I had no cause to complain on my previous visits but this time I was extremely disappointed. The crockery was in short supply and in an unacceptable condition, five mugs in total, cracked and chipped and the glaze on the crockery was in a terrible condition. There were only five side plates and as the apartment slept four, not in my opinion enough crockery for full occupancy. The ensuite bathroom tiles needed a jolly good clean, the two shower mats also needed attention. Neither extractor fans worked in the bathrooms and the ensuite bathroom windows did not open. The mattresses on the beds need replacing, most uncomfortable. The quality of the furniture is good but these issues made me very angry. I was so disappointed that I wrote a note to the resident manager and put it through his door but I have as yet had no acknowledgement of this. Talking to another visitor I was told that they had 'phoned the number given for some help and got no answer so they came to where we stayed to see if we could help. We tried? But I don't know how they got on because it was the morning of our departure. Such a pity I feel like this as the property is in a lovely situation and we wouldn't have returned for a third stay there if we had not been happy on previous occasions.

We were delighted with our stay . Peace and quiet with no interference, we saw nobody at all apart from our neighbours. The apartment was well maintained and comfortable with gorgeous views. There was nothing extra we needed and would willingly stay again.
Oh one small thing, the double bed creaked and the single had a dip in the mattress, but we still all slept well!

This apartment is in the countryside and in a quiet area. It has a balcony, a barbecue, outside lighting, a garden and a shared garden. Car hire is recommended as the apartment is less than a 15 minute walk to at least a couple of shops, bars and restaurants; however parking is available if required.
