situated at the top of the hill , quite steep 10 min walk down to harbour, owners very friendly , but single beds and all bedding could do with updating , shower sealant needs renewing , as not very inviting to look at or step into , wifi was a extra cost also of £10 ? apart from these few things ... generally good overall

A perfect location for a peaceful getaway. Lots of dog walking opportunities. Cottage was very well equipped and comfortable and we had a warm welcome once we had found the cottage. There was no name at the entrance to the cottages so very difficult to find especially in the dark. We would highly recommend it.

If you want a break away from a hectic lifestyle, this is the place to stay. We found Stables Cottage barn conversion to be very well equipped, spacious, spotlessly clean and comfortable, a real home away from home. Abbeycwmhir is a quiet village and is described as a “remote historic village hidden away in the Cambrian mountains, virtually undiscovered by the modern world”. Pretty well sums it up. The satellite Wifi seems to be a bit weather dependent, but we found it more reliable than we experienced in Dublin. The ruins of the 13th century Abbeycwmhir Abbey, the 19th century neo-Byzantine St. Mary’s Church and the spectacular Abbeycwmhir Hall are all easy walking distance from the Stables. This is the first time we’ve stayed in a self-catering cottage as we invariably book BnB’s and hotels when holidaying. After our stay here, this practice may well change. A word of caution for overseas visitors, roads into Abbeycwmhir are narrow, so keep well to the left and be prepared to stop to allow cars to squeeze by. I’m a cautious driver and managed to cope with the challenge. If I can, anyone can.

The house is beautifully landscaped. The space is large and the very friendly, helpful landlady lives in the house next door. If you want to experience the coasts of Wales, you need a car. Since ours had a major defect, we unfortunately had to leave after only 2 of 7 planned nights.
