Founded by the ancient Romans, York is famous for it’s history, large cathedral, city walls and shopping areas, including the ancient street known as the Shambles. York also makes a great base to venture further afield and explore the Yorkshire Moors and Yorkshire Dales, which are a reasonably short drive away, and make for a great adventure outside of the city’s walls. Please be aware that there is a back street where to park but it can fit only few small cars.
