Edinburgh Leith flat

Overview

Our comfortable ground floor flat is a peaceful and calm home from home base in the Shore area of Leith, roughly 2 miles from the centre of Edinburgh. The frequent bus service takes you not only to the city centre in 10 to 15 minutes but you can also jump on a bus in the other direction and in 10-15 minutes you're at the local seaside of Portobello. Leith is home to 3 "Guide Michelin" restaurants and besides being a great place for a stack of other restaurants, cafés etc there's also a huge choice of food shopping places giving the option of eating out or at home. On warmer nights the area has a definite continental feel to it but it can be nice too to wrap up and sit outside the pubs/cafés, just relaxing and taking in whatever's going on around, even if the weather's not so great. There is also a seating area with tables and benches behind the flat. The Ocean Terminal Shopping Centre that also houses a cinema complex is a short 5-10 minute walk away and the Royal Yacht Britannia is berthed right beside the shopping centre. The post office is also only a couple minutes from the flat and there are a few other little cute shops and art galleries nearby, as well as sports/fitness centres and swimming pools. In fact everything's on our doorstep. The Botanical Gardens isn't so far away either.



Accommodation
Although there are two bedrooms, the flat is probably better appreciated when it's not choc-a-bloc. One bedroom has twin beds and the other a double bed and that room has a nice en-suite shower/toilet. There is also a bathroom with shower over the bath, wc and sink, a good-sized well-equipped kitchen, and a livingroom with a flat screen television with freeview. The flat is neatly furnished and is easy to keep clean. It has gas central heating that makes it nice and cosy! The weekly rate is based on 2/3 people occupying the flat - there is an extra charge of £25 for a possible fourth person.

Suitability...
Our flat is only for non smokers. It is our second home and there is definite evidence of our frequent visits. We leave the flat prepared for any unexpected guests and hope to find it the same for us on our next visit. We feel it is really not so suitable for small children and is more comfortable for a couple or single person looking to relax after exploring the sites or spending the day doing the shops.

Cleaning: As mentioned, we would hope the property to be left in a similar state as when found on arrival. If you don’t want to clean it yourself before leaving, please let us know before hand. There would be an extra charge of £30 for this service.

Extra information (The flat is a minute from the Water of Leith that flows into the Firth of Forth although there, you can't see any great expanse of water untill you go further along the coast; probably a mile or so north. In the other direction, 2 or 3 miles (?) there's Portobello Beach. A pleasant afternoon or evening can be spent relaxing on a bench beside the Water of Leith, in or outside one of the nearby pubs, cafés or restaurants....that would maybe be after doing part of the walk along the banks of the Water of Leith.)

Very quiet neighbourhood. Modern apartment well equipped. We walked into Edinburgh one and 3/4 miles each day but some may prefer public transport to get there. We would stay there again without hesitation.

this was a really nice property and we would use it and recomend it again Ii was well situated for us and buses ran near by to get around.

We are a retired EU civil service couple who frequently use our second home flat which means that its not so often available for other renters. This also means that the flat is kept in a good state of repair because thats how we prefer to live and we want others to appreciate that too and that it is a "warm" home that they would be coming to..
