Cottage overview - owner's description

3 bedroom bungalow enjoying tremendous views of mountains and sea.

A quiet, well equipped bungalow in the midst of what can only be described as the most outstandingly beautiful views. Mountains, sea and streams are literally on all sides, local fauna ranges from eagles to otters. A perfect location for hiking, sailing, coastal or streambed walks or to escape urban stress.

Allt Slapin is all on ground floor with electric heating and comprises:

With new electrical fire free view TV and DVD with sofa bed (for + 2 with linen provided if required) There is a gaming table at the end of the room, and a chaise with the best view in the house.

With electric oven and hobs, microwave, fridge, dishwasher, washing machine and spin dryer. The dining table can seat 6 and the kitchen is fully equipped.

Master/Lochside Bedroom
With double bed. A spacious room with wardrobe and desk.

End Bedroom
With two single beds, built in cupboard and chest of drawers.

Single/Roadside Bedroom
Large single bed, 2 built in cupboards.

Bedlinen is provided along with towels, and all beds will be made and ready for your arrival.

With power shower over bath, WC and wash basin. The towelrail is heated overnight, for warm dry towels in the morning.

Loch Slapin, Blaven and the area.
The loch has an all weather anchorage on the opposite side of it, where local boats can often be seen. Follow the coast to the left around the headland, and you will pass first a rocky bay and then arrive at a beautiful sandy bay with skerries, ideal for swimming or a family day out. To the right you will be heading toward the head of the loch, with streams at the quarry and the lochs head that make very pleasant walks.

Sometimes you will see herons and otters in Slapin.

The mountain Blaven is just one of many beautiful walks or climbs, some literally on the doorstep of this wonderful place.

The interior of the cottage could do with an upgrade. The furniture is old, there are no blinds in the kitchen or bathroom and there is a glass door between the kitchen and inner hall that doesnt have toughened glass in it therefore cannot be used. There was an intermittent fault on the tv. After it had been on for a few minutes the picture got what looked like "green slime" on it.
On the plus side, the bed was very comfortable, the shower nice and hot and the cottage was warm. The cottage was very clean which is very important. The location is outstanding and the view of Blaven is stunning. Unfortunately we had to leave early due to a family crisis and I was able to get in touch with the owner and arrange a place to leave the keys. He was very kind and understanding.
This could be a beautiful property with a bit of tlc. At the moment it is very basic and not quite up to the standards we are used to.


From Glasgow

We had a fantastic week at Allt Slapin, the house is a bit old fashioned, but has everything you need. and is warm and cosy. The views and setting are just outstanding, ideal base for exploring Skye and hillwalking.

This cottage is in the countryside and in a quiet area near the sea and mountains. It has a garden and a sea view. Car hire is necessary as the renter will need a car to get about for shopping, eating out and the beach; however parking is available if required.
