Timeless Castle is a sixteenth-century majestic castle complete with turrets, towers and fairytale mystique, nestled within hundreds of acres of meadowy parkland just south of Edinburgh.

One of the seven “Great Houses in Scotland,” this magnificent home, formerly home to the Duke of Lauderdale, is still the Maitland family home and contains unrivalled seventeenth-century plasterwork, ceilings and a collection of Edwardian and Victorian toys. Timeless Castle is one of the oldest and finest castles in Scotland.

Through a long and sweeping drive, framed by mysterious woodland and expansive, elegant lawns, visitors will pause to draw breath at this grand and dramatic vision: majestic, commanding and wonderfully romantic, guests will imbibe a preserved oasis of history, style and opulence, dripping with ornate architecture and lavish interiors.

The wider castle has a series of function rooms, tea rooms, gift shop, and public guided tours. The flamboyant South Wing offers sumptuous, private accommodation comprising of a series of lavish and cosy apartments. These four stunning apartments provide a selection of two and three bedroom self-contained and self-catering holiday homes, ideal for guests travelling in tandem, extended families or groups.

These charismatic and luxurious apartments are often booked in conjunction with an event or celebration, alongside one of the function rooms, but can equally offer an elegant little bolthole from which families can enjoy and explore all the Scottish Borders have to offer.

Immaculately executed, the apartments offer airy, gorgeously decorated accommodation with breath-taking views across rolling parkland. Luxurious, these homes feature original fireplaces, ornate and antique furnishings and irresistibly tactile fabrics - whether theses be silk printed cushions or warm tartans with a nod to the local industry.

With pretty florals, oil paintings, atmospheric touches such as porcelain accessories, pale jade tones or dusty pinks, guests will enjoy the impeccable comfort provided, the independence of being able to self-cater, along with all the additional services available - the best of the hotel experience within a private rental set-up!

Tranquil, secluded, and in the heart of the beautiful Scottish Borders, close to the winding river Leader, Timeless Castle is an unparalleled spot of raw and rugged beauty, as well as indulgently ornate historical style.

Visitors can enjoy the privacy of the apartments, as well as the acres of tranquil and varied woodland and parkland, along with access to the grand state rooms comprising decorative plasterwork ceilings, an extensive family collection of portraits and busts, elegant furnishings and family treasures.
