THE LOCAL AREA
Falmouth’s natural harbour is the third deepest in the world and provides a picturesque background to the resort, a focal point for many water sports and the National Maritime Museum. Many of the harbour side shops, cafes and restaurants have unsurpassed views across the water to Flushing , Falmouth Bay and beyond. Falmouth’s main street has a charming mix of shops for gifts, clothes and antiques just head down the road and swing a right into town.

GYLLYNGVASE Cliff Road, This is the main town beach and a beautiful, long sandy stretch. Calm waters most of the time, excellent facilities for kids and a very cool café.
CASTLE BEACH also on Cliff Road, this smaller beach is not as busy, has excellent rock pools and a good but basic café.
Walking or driving along the coast (beautiful walk) from the above beaches will lead you to SWANPOOL and MAENPORTH beaches. These are both lovely sandy with cafes and stunning views over to the headlands. Swanpool also has a nature reserve with a lake for boats and swans.
Gylly Beach - 5 mins away, on Gyllngvase Beach, locally sourced food in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere, over looked by Pendennis castle with fantastic views of the lizard peninsula.
Blue Bar - Porthtowan
Seasonal, local & freshly prepared food served daily from 10 am Live Bands at weekends. Huge Outside terraces with epic sunsets. "The original beach bar-brasserie..."
Sandbar - Praa sands
One of our regular haunts, right on the beach, cant beat a sunday carvery, followed by a walk on the beach.

I stayed at this property for three nights with my two children, and a friend. Although only two bedrooms it worked perfectly - me and the kids in one room, which had a double bed and a single, and my friend in the 2nd room, which had a huge king size bed.
The property has amazing views across the harbour and is ideally located for the town. It is just a couple of minutes walk and you're right in the centre. The house is well furnished, and during our visit we didn't feel anything was missing. The only thing to watch out for is parking - there is one space, but if you arrive in more than one car you'll need to park on the street. Having said that we found a space on the street right outside.
All in all, a very nice place for a short break.
We had booked the flat for a Christmas stay in Falmouth. It is ideally situated with great views over the harbour and estuary, and across the estuary to Flushing. Falmouth over the Christmas holiday is a great place to stay, with many acrtivities and entertainment going on. Also the atmosphere in Falmouth is warm and friendly.
The flat is well appointed, comfortable, warm and spacious. The additional touches of a Christmas tree and a bottle of wine were appreciated. We have family in Falmouth, and were able to visit and enjoy family Christmas, which added to the pleasure.
Unfortunately I was unwell over the holiday, so we were unable to enjoy the full benefit, in fact we left a day early. That is not a reflection on the property I would hasten to add. We particularly appreciated the benefit of 2 bathrooms.
I booked the apartment for my grandmothers annual holiday. She's 92!
On whole the location and facilities were great. It's a lovely quiet setting with a stunning view!
Our only challenge was that the advert had said it was disabled friendly, however the entrance was tight with a lip in the door way which made getting wheels over a challenge, and there was no handhold or slip mat in the shower so granny had to wash in the sink in which the plug didn't work. However when we contacted the owners they responded very quickly, but unfortunately they couldn't fix the plug before we left.
This didn't spoil our stay though and thoroughly enjoyed the great kitchen facilities and views over the estuary.
It's a very short walk to the nearest shops, bars and restaurants so we were never bored!
The location was fantastic: very easy access on foot to Falmouth and easy to get to with the car from the main road.
However few negative to point out: one of the bathroom need some TLC; there were no chester draw where to leave the clothes in the rooms; some of the kitchenware was a bit old (especially a frying pan) and can do with replacing; there was no coffee/sugar/salt/pepper and similar that you normally find in a holiday rental facilities.
We loved staying in the apartment. Everything is very close nearby, while the location is still very peaceful and got a splendid view to the boats and to Flushing. Just about 100 metres away are the best organic bakery, vibey pubs, restaurants, shops, cafes, and the ferry pier to St Mawes. The apartment got lots of space, nice reception, kitchen/dining, and bedrooms. The only downside I've found is that there are no standard wardrobes or a desk. Instead there are built-in closets. But this is up to your taste.
