Villa overview

Fused with modern and Mediterranean furnishings and secluded in the picturesque valley of Islamlar Village, three-bedroomed Villa Daisy is a peaceful holiday haven. The charming Turkish villa can sleep up to six, has stunning sea views and is nestled between pine tree-lined hills. It's less than a fifteen-minute drive to Kalkan Town with friendly local restaurants and serene sandy beaches.

Life at Villa Daisy is centred around the private outdoor swimming pool and sun terrace area, dotted with cushioned chairs and loungers for your comfort. You can dine al fresco on the quaint wooden table while listening to the sweet sound of birds or take a dip in the cooling turquoise waters. The building is surrounded by tranquil gardens with colourful plants and flowers and lush, tall trees.

Stepping inside, you'll find a fully-equipped open-plan kitchen, dining and lounge area. There are two inviting sofas for relaxing on after a day or exploring, alongside an indoor table and chairs for enjoying your meals together. Glass doors provide effortless access to the outdoor terrace and allow you to soak up the serene vistas while you're sipping your morning coffee or evening glass of wine.

We must give an honourable mention to the balcony too where you can curl up on a chair under the shade with a good book while soaking in the idyllic surroundings. Rooms include two double bedrooms, one twin room and two single rooms – all equally inviting and with plenty of wardrobe space.

An ideal location for couples or families looking for a peaceful holiday, Islamlar has not been touched by mass tourism, yet still boasts plenty of things to see and do. Kalkan is near enough to dip in and out set around a pictureque harbour, it's rocky shores are sheltered at the foot of the towering Taurus Mountains and provide the perfect opportunity to go swimming or take part in water sports like snorkelling or scuba diving.

Location

Villa Daisy is in charming Islamlar Village in the foothills of the Taurus Mountains on the Turkish Mediterranean coast. It's close to local restaurants and shops and is just twenty minutes by car to Kalkan and the coast. This incredibly beautiful area offers a compelling combination of a peaceful, utterly unspoilt terrain with breath-taking views and the convenience of being close to a lively town. On a Sunday the hamlet of Akbel has a small market on on Monday the larger town of Elmali (76km in land) has a very traditional market. The mosque in Elmali is also worth a visit as was built by the architect Sinan who designed the Blue Mosque in Istanbul.

In Islamlar Village, you can get an insight into traditional rural Turkish life. Explore the olive groves and vineyards or head to a trout farm restaurant with locally grown ingredients and beautiful views down the valley. The villa is also close to parts of the famous Lycian Way – it's a spectacular walking route that has breath-taking views over the coast from above Kas and Kalkan and goes to remote, unspoilt places like the 12km long beach at Patara or castle, harbour and ruins at Ucagiz.

A twenty-minute drive takes you to Kalkan, an old fishing town and harbour between Kas and Fethiye. It's famous for its white-washed houses, descending to the sea, and its brightly coloured bougainvillaea flowers. Dine on a roof terrace restaurant or bar with wonderful views of the town or while away the afternoon at one of the many harbour-side restaurants.

There are plenty of swimming beaches in Kalkan including Kaputas Beach and Patara Beach. You can take part in water sports or head out on a traditional wooden gulet (sailing boat) to experience the full beauty of the Turquoise Coast, with time for a swim or snorkel.

For a cultural day trip instead, you could visit the sunken remains at Kekova & Simena's Ottoman Castle, the ruins at Xanthos or Salikent Gorge. Further afield, there's also the preserved ‘ghost village' of Kayakoy with deserted, Greek-style houses and churches.
